The TRUTH about Sports

IT’S GONNA BE A LONG SHORTENED SEASON

As I’m watching the Los Angeles Lakers crumble again late in a game (this time against the Milwaukee Bucks), I can’t help but wonder what a nasty squad this is.  How they beat the Clippers 3 days ago befuddles me? They come off a big win against LAC and with 3 days rest, play like shit against a Bucks’ squad that’s missing their all-star center Bogut. The Lakers made Mike Dunleavy look like Jordan.  While the Lakers were clinging to a 8 point deficit, it seemed like the Bucks were handing the game to them, missing one shot after another.  But the problems was that the Lakers couldn’t hit either.  Ron Artest missed 3-pointer after 3-pointer.  Kobe Bryant did the same. I don’t think the Lakers dropped the ball into post once in the 4th quarter, and I’m not kidding.  Mike Brown, whose hire was a HUGE mistake by the Lakers, needs to man up.  This is not Cleveland where the gameplan was “do your thang Lebron.”  This is LA with an over-the-hill Kobe and a nasty drop-off after the first 3 options. The only way the Lakers will make a playoff run with this team is if they keep dropping the ball in the post.  Their outside shooters are horrendous.  Watching them lose tonight was just the icing on the cake.  They’ve won 1 road game all year.  That is ridiculous! If the playoffs were to start today, they’d be watching them from their homes. The Lakers are a lost cause.  They don’t need to trade Bynum and Gasol, they need to get rid of Kobe.  I’m sorry for saying that but if there’s 1 thing worse than a has been, it’s someone who doesn’t know that they are one.  Tell me you wouldn’t rather see Dwight and D-Will on the Lakers rather than this nasty squad? D-Will, Dwight and Gasol? Looks a lot better than what the Lakers put on the court tonight. Oh well, game on tomorrow against surging Timberwolves.  I wonder if Rubio is going to light up Fish? OK, I don’t really wonder.

BLAKE GRIFFIN: Good Luck Kid!

blake griffinAnd with the #1 pick, the Los Angeles Clippers take…any hopes of winning.  Thanks for coming Blake Griffin.  This is the cellar of the NBA, this is the Clippers.  Don’t worry about those other guys across the hall, we don’t mingle with them.  I can’t help but feel sorry for college studs that go to NBA teams that don’t care.  Blake Griffin is gonna learn that losing isn’t easy in the NBA, even if you’re getting paid. The Clippers are stacked (in a bad way) at the PF and C positions.  They’ve got mercenaries Marcus Camby, Zach Randolph, veteran Chris Kamaan who all demand big minutes.  Al Thornton hasn’t seen a shot he doesn’t like.  Baron Davis plays like a 50 year old.  If the Clippers are interested in saving Griffin’s career and possibly the name of the franchise, they’d should start making some serious moves. Starting with getting rid of B-Diddy, Camby and Randolph and build around Eric Gordon and Griffin.  I know that’s a mouthful but they never should’ve taken on these contracts.  Baron and Camby have no heard.  Randolph is a cancer. I like point guard Mike Taylor, but only as a back-up.  He’s a good spark-plug off the bench. Fred Jones needs to go.  He’s a little to “streets” for me. Steve Novak can straight out shoot.  Oh yeah, get rid of Mike Dunleavy.  Mr. Coach/GM just doesn’t mesh.  He just omits fumes of loserness. Getting back to Griffin, it’ll be interesting to see if he can dominate in the bigs. Gives me a reason to watch Clipper games, at least for a couple of weeks.

Clippers Suck

So I tuned in just in time today to catch the last 20 seconds of the Clippers game against the Spurs at the Staples Center. Tie game 83-83, Spurs’ SG Roger Mason, that’s right folks, WHO!!! has the ball near halfcourt.  He waits for a pick by Tim Duncan and boom, wide open 3 pointer, 86-83, thanks for coming Clippers.  Then, to make matters worse, Clippers’ head coach Mike Dunleavy draws up the worse play for Baron Davis with only 8 tics on the clock. Now we all know the Clippers were going to lose the game against the Spurs, but to get beat by a no name in Roger Mason, off a WIDE OPEN 3-pointer.  Then, to top it off, have a horrible shot at tying the game in a fade away 3 pointer with time running out.  GET RID OF THIS GUY (Dunleavy). He’s gotta be the worst head coach EVER. The Clippers age going nowhere fast and they need to fire Dunleavy.  He’s been a cancer everwhere he’s coached.  His face says it all.  This guy can’t coach a team. P.S. the Clippers are 1-9.

Can I Get A Mic?

micsSo the NBA has resorted to gimmicks in order to bring in viewers. I’m surprised too, not that they use parlor tricks, but that the NBA season has started already. David Stern is trying something new this season. Soon all NBA head coaches will have to wear mics during games. That means we get to hear all the blaberings of an NBA coach when you just want to peacefully watch a game. As if it wasn’t hard enough listening to Bill Walton and Marv Albert for two straight hours, now you get to hear Mike Dunleavy and Stan Van Gundy too. I can’t wait for Phil Jackson’s brilliant give it to Kobe plays, or Mike Brown asking Lebron what they should do. It gets better, we will also have access to locker rooms during halftime. What has happened with the NBA? This league used to be a major player back in the day, now it’s pulling tricks I would expect from the WNBA. That’s right, there is a WNBA too! Needless to say coaches aren’t happy about this. Scott Skiles thinks it will be a disruption during games and that coaches won’t be themselves. Maybe that’s a good thing. Whatever the protest, it looks like it’s happening, so let’s sit back and watch what happens. I can’t wait for the first F-Bomb to slip through the censors.
