SUPERBOWL PICK ‘EM

Well, it’s a rematch from a few years back and everyone’s been sucking Eli Manning’s you know what since he’s won all his games on the road and since he beat Tom Brady and his Pats in the regular season and it the previous Superbowl.  Before I tell you who I know is going to win, I want to put to rest one issue.  That being whether or not Eli has passed Peyton Manning on who the better quarterback is.  Let me tell you something, Peyton is hands down the best quarterback in the family.  If Peyton Manning had the defense that Eli Manning had, Peyton would have won 4 Superbowls.  Don’t come at me with Dwight Freeney. The Giants have had the best front 4 in the league for at least 4 years.  They have a running game which Peyton never had.  OK, time to move on to the big game.  Picking this one is easy.  The rule is that if you beat a team in the regular season, you lose to them in the playoffs.  Hence, the Pats will take this.  Look for G-men to be overconfident and get lit up early by Tom and his merry band of men.  I know that Pats have a worse defense but their running game has picked up recently and we all know that Tom Brady is, well, Tom Brady. Not that much insight in this article but I’m telling you, take the Pats.  Watch the game at home or even head out to the game. Surprisingly enough, it’s not sold out.

NEW YORK GIANTS: The Art of Choking

How do you blow a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter, with 11 minutes left to play?  Well, ask the NY Giants.  Michael Vick and his band of merry men walked all over the G-Men in the 4th today.  Winning on a reeedonkulous Desean Jackson punt return as time expired.  It’s been a bad week for New Yorkers. First, Cliff Lee spurns them to sign with the Phillies, for less money. Then this!  Whoever would’ve thought that the Knicks would be the hottest team in the city. I gotta give credit to Mike Vick.  I hated on this guy for the immoral things he did off the field.  But he’s come a long way and will probably get the comeback player of the year award.  He should also be in consideration for MVP.  Vick led the way with 3 passing TDs and 1 rushing. With two home games left against the lowly Vikings and the Cowboys, looks like the Eagles are headed to the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if these guys represent teh NFC in the playoffs. By the way, I hate Desean Jackson.

What’s All This Jets’ Hype?

Enough about the Jets… So they had a good year last year… They exceeded everyone’s expectations. You know what that means? That means that everyone expected them to suck and they made the playoffs.  Now everyone’s talking about who’s town is it, the Jets’ or the Giants’? Let’s see, the Jets let the league leader in rushing yards walk away (Thomas Jones) and signed a has been in Ladanian Tomlinson.  They have a rookie quarterback who is sure to hit the sophmore wall. Their #1 receiver Braylon Edwards is the epitamy of a pre-madonna.  I do like their rookie runningback Shonne Green though.  On defense, the Darrelle Revis and newliy acquired Antonio Cromartie might possible be the sickest cornerback combo since Deion Sanders and well, Deion Sanders. On the other hand, we have the NY Giants.  Superbowl Champs from a few years ago. They still have Eli at the helm and Bradshaw/Jacobs combo at runningback.  Their d-line is probably one of the top in the league with Justin Tuck and Osi Uminyiora.  They could use some help in their secondary and lack any threats at WR.  The only reason why the Jets get more love is ’cause they play in the crappy AFC East where they face the Dolphins and Bills 4x a year where the Giants have to play Dallas, Philly and even Wasington.  Oh well, wise man once told me “you’re only as good as your last game.” I wouldn’t hold my breath with either of these teams next year, Minnesota and New Orleans still own the NFC and in the AFC, I’ll still put my money on the Colts and Brady and Co. I’ll give it to the Jets though, they do have a more promising future. The Plaxico fiasco in NY is still haunting the Giants.

LOCK of the Week

Giants Cowboys Football8-7 on the year isn’t spectacular, but it’s over .500.  This week’s lock of the week comes a little early, but then again, it is a Saturday game.  That’ll give you more time jump to place your bets.  Vegas has the Baltimore Ravens @ the Dallas Cowboys -4.5.  Take the Cowboys and the points. Both these teams are battling for playoff spots.  The Ravens are coming off a tough/controversial loss against the rival Steelers.  The Cowboys, well they just took down the mighty NY Giants.  Their offense is coming together after T.O.’s latest rant and their defense, well, they shut down Eli. The Ravens just can’t put up enough points to hang with that potent offense.  I know you’ve heard this before, but this is a no-branier.  When my back is against the wall, I have and will step up.  Vegas has them at 4.5 right now.  You better move before everyone else figures out this one and the spread goes up. Happy Holidays!!!

Are You Ready For Some Football!!!

Well, the Superbowl Champion NY Giants were Thursday night.  The Washington Redskins, not so much. The Giants went on with their winning ways, beating the ‘skins 16-7.  Who needs Michael Strahan? Who needs Osi Umenyiora? Certainly not the Giants. They shut down the ‘skins to 209 total yards.  Now that’s pathetic.  I don’t wanna jump the gun here or anything, BUT the ‘skins need to blow this team up.  I don’t think Jason Campbell will ever be that “stud” quarterback that Washington is expecting him to be.  Their running back Clinton Portis is more fragile than…well let’s just say he’s a sissy. This team just quite isn’t there.  Not last year, not this year, not anytime soon. They’re the worst team in their division and are far from being competitive. As for the Giants, I thought that last year was just a fluke.  I’m not jumping on the “repeat” bandwagon just yet, but as of today, they have the best record in the league.  If RB Brandon Jacobs stays healthy, along with Plax and Eli, these guys are gonna be serious contenders for the Superbowl.  I will however reserve my opinion for at least a couple more weeks before I crown these guys NFC Champs… Until then, hold tight, NFL opening weekend is right around the corner.

Eli Manning Finally Lives Up to His Name

eli manning onthebuzzer.comAnd the Giants are on their way to Big D, to face the Dallas Cowboys after manhandling the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay on Sunday, 24-14. Eli Manning,  20-27,  185 yards , 2 tds, and most importantly no picks.  I said it before, the Giants are an excellent road team.  Their pass rush is one of the best in the league, as seen on Sunday when they were all over Bucs qb Jeff Garcia.  I don’t know if they’ll beat the Cowboys, but they sure as hell will give them ‘boys a run for their money.  As for the Bucs, it was cool while it lasted, but Garcia is not the answer.  Maybe 1 of those 13 quarterbacks on their roster can solve their problem.

Fantasy Football Playoffs; Round Two

superbowl trophy onthebuzzer.comIt’s all about matchups. I survived round 1, and the only reason was because I was the top seeded team playing against the eight seed. If I played any other team, I would’ve been outty. But now it’s round two, 1 win away from the money, forget about my team’s poor performance last week. Thursday night’s game had my opponent playing Jay Cutler and Brandon fantasy football onthebuzzer.comMarshall, who decided to tear it up. 23 points later, I’m already in the hole and looking forward to Sunday. Anxious a bit too. The good: I got Derek Anderson hosting the Bills (I need at least 3 tds from him). Randy Moss v. the Jets and Terrell Owens v. the Eagles, both at home, both should pay dividends (especially after T.O.’s quiet week 14). Ryan Grant against the Rams, I’ll take that too. Dallas Clark at the Raiders, I smell endzone. The Bad: Eli Manning at home against the ‘skins, I’m worried. This guy hasn’t played well since week 1. Fargas at home against the Colts, worried about the Colts focusing on him. X-factors: Steven Jackson and Torry Holt at home against Green Bay??? How about the Baltimore D at Miami, can they shut down or will me picking up Baltimore jinx them and give Miami their 1st win. My opponent isn’t too shabby either. Aside from the two Broncos mentioned above, he’s got Kitna and K. Jones at S.D. Housh at S.F., GB defense, Addai at Oakland and Driver and Hines. I like my players’ matchups more than his and my yahoo fantasy says my team should take it. I’m still worried as I should be but it’ll make my Sunday interesting. Worse case scenario, I play for 3rd base and my money back. I don’t want it, I want the gold, cup, ring, whatever you wanna call it. FOCUS, FOCUS.

MIA: Chicago Bears’ Defense

superbowl shuffle onthebuzzer.comHave you seen this person? The Bears‘ defense seems to have disappeared. One year after leading their team to the Superbowl, the Bears defense, well SUCKS. They’re ranked 28th in yards per game, 20th in pointssuperbowl shuffle onthebuzzer.com given up per game, 27th in rushing yards allowed, and 25th in passing yards allowed. It’s a sad day in Chicago. On Thursday night, the Bears horrific defense continued as they allowed backup qb Todd Collins, Mr. I haven’t thrown a pass in 3 years or a td in 5, torched the Chicago Bears D with 2 touchdowns, no pics and 224 yards. This guy completed 15 of 20 passes. Are you kidding me? The Washington Redskins. I guess I’m more pissed because this week is the first round of playoffs for my fantasy league and I am playing the worst team in the playoffs and my Bears D got me a measly 3 points. What a bust. This team is a far cry from last years, let alone the Bears of the past. If I go out in the first round, I’m gonna be pisssssed. Now I know what Marty Schottenhiemer feels like. Hopefully my offense tears it up, let’s go Eli Manning, Derek Anderson, T.O., Moss, Steven Jackson, Holt, Ryan Grant, Fargas, Dallas Clark, and of course, the kicker Mason Crosby. Pray for me fellow readers, I need this bad. If I lose, they might hire Norv to replace me.

ELI MANNING HAS NO HEART

onthebuzzer.com sad eli manningI’m sitting watching the NY Giants host the Adrian Peterson-less Minnesota Vikings and Eli Manning has thrown 4 interceptions, 3 returned for touchdowns.  What the F#@!  Yes, this guy is my fantasy league quarterback, and yes he’s got 15 tds, but after today, he’ll have at least 15 interceptions.  I think this guy is a 2nd tier qb, right under his brother, Brady and Carson, but he has a lot to learn about poise and leadership.  I’m sick of his facial expressions when a WR doesn’t make a catch or runs the wrong route. Suck it up buddy, shit happens.  Make the best of it and for the love of god, try to keep your team in the game. By the way, garbage time touchdowns are good for me, bad for you…

Moss or Owens, Owens or Moss

onthebuzzer.com terrell owensonthebuzzer.com randy mossLuckily for me, I don’t have to choose because I drafter both Randy Moss and Terrell Owens on my fantasy team this year and have been riding them all year long. On Sunday, going into the afternoon, I was down by about 50 points against my opponent. By Sunday night, I had spanked my foe ala Patriotsonthebuzzer.com fonz and [insert any opponent name here]. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens got me a combined 8 touchdowns and 301 yds. Can someone say money, money, money, money… I probably jinxed it but my fantasy team is coming around, just in time for playoffs. With Steven Jackson looking like his old self and Torry Holt doing what he does, all I need is for my 2 quarterbacks Eli Manning and Derek Anderson to give me 2 touchdowns each per week and this league is ALL MINE. My only concern is my arch nemesis who has both Romo and Brady. But as long as they keep throwing to their #1s, everything is gonna be as cool as the Fonz. Heyyyy…
