I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am pumped about the NBA season which is set to kick off Tuesday night! Maybe it’s because I’m a Lakers homer, but c’mon, you gotta admit Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant on the same team sounds intriguing? How about the Clippers adding Grant Hill, Odom and Jamaal Crawford? Will Blake’s knee hold up? The scariest move for me was the Heat signing Ray Allen. A consistent shooter on a dangerous team like that. I have them as favorites to win it all. I like what Boston did in picking Jason Terry but it ain’t gonna be enough. Not only are KG and Paul Pierce 1 year older, but they have no depth. I can’t wait for the annual Knicks’ Amare v. Carmelo drama to begin. With Harden gone from OKC (BIG MISTAKE), I can’t see the any legitimate threat for the Lakers in the west. Not even Iguodola in Denver is gonna make a difference. Then again, isn’t it true that every NBA team is 1 injury away from going to the cellar? Look what happened to D-Rose and Chicago. Truth be told, I don’t even think he’s coming back this year. Chicago might end up being a lottery team. Hang on folks, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!
Before everyone gets excited, the Miami Heat were supposed to win this game. For all you Heat fans, I wouldn’t get too excited about this win ’cause the Boston Celtics are gonna come out gunning in Game 2. I’m pretty sure Dwayne Wade isn’t going to drop 38 points again. And even if he does, it ain’t gonna be enough. But they’re going need more than 3 points from Bibby and Ilgauskas COMBINED. I don’t think they’re going to get 25 form James Jones again. I’m happy for the journeyman, but the kid had a career night. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad the Cs got burned. I’m cheering for the Heat to take the series. But I think the ref ejecting Paul Pierce in the 4th quarter was a little trigger happy. We all know Pierce is a bitch and let’s hope that this teaches him a lesson. Maybe he’ll shut his trap for a couple of games. And for all you Celtics fans that think that the ejection decided the game, the Heat were up by 13 by then and there were only 7 minutes left in the game. Pumped about game two. This series is gonna be vicious.
Thanks for coming New York. The Celtics completed a sweep of Knicks today, waxing them in the Garden. I’m a little disappointed in the way the Knicks finished this series. Sure, you can blame it on injuries, but after losing by a couple points both times in Boston in games 1 & 2, I thought (I don’t know why) that they would at least get one game at home. Instead, the Knickerbockers just rolled over and played dead. Again, I understand the woes of Amare and Chauncy, but I gotta be honest with you, there are some players on the Knicks squad that shouldn’t be in the NBA, let alone starting. I’m happy NY made it to the playoffs, but they’re still a long way from becoming competitors. I’m also gonna need a little more from Carmelo. He seems to be always smiling (ala Dwight Howard). Lead your team for Pete’s sake. I feel like this guy lacks that certain “umphh” that the Kobes and Chris Pauls and Dwayne Wades possess. Heck, the Celtics Big 4 all have that swagger that says wreaks of “I’ma kill you!” Anyway, still a successful season for the Knicks. Next year, they’re gonna have to improve and move on to the second round, let alone win 1 playoff game. They’re gonna need to sign some players. Can’t win with Ronny Turiaf in your starting lineup. By the way, get rid of this guy while your at it (Spike Lee).
All the Sullies in the world can now shut their mouths. All the angry Boson fans in LA can now leave. Dane Cook can jump off the bandwagon he was on for 2 weeks. Maria Menounos can go back to hosting the real world. What a game!!! Karma’s a bitch Celtics. Take your 80s chants of Beat LA, take your nasty chants of “ugly sister,” take your weak-ass chants of “no means no” and shove them up your ASSES!!! To quote the big Shaq Fu, tell me how my ass tastes. First of all, I gotta say, we lucked out. That game was Celtic-controlled for 3 quarters. I think they ran out of legs. Ray Allen, garbage. Paul Pierce, choke city. KG had a half decent game for a player his age. Rajon Rondo, as much as I dislike him, is the sickest point guard in the NBA. He needs to practice his outside J. Enough of the crap, let’s talk showtime. Poor game by Kobe Bryant, but he came through with a couple of clutch plays in the 4th. Legacy, shlegacy, he found a way to win with his 15 rebounds. Ron Artest, game MVP in my book. Played more minutes than anybody (46). His line, 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals. HUGE!!! I couldn’t be happier for a person winning the title. This guy deserves it more than anyone. Derek Fisher, clutch. Biggest shot of the game, tying it up with a 3 (from range) at 64. Great game by Gasol on paper. His double double was solid but he did shoot poorly (6-16). Probably the most consistent Laker this finals. Should’ve got the MVP though. Lakers FTs almost cost of this game. But now, we can chill. Relax in LA this summer and wait ’till the ring ceremony next season. I do have to reconsider my Kobe is better than Jordan stance though. I LOVE LA!!!
#1 rule of making tough guy faces: make sure you win the game. #2 rule of making tough guy faces: make sure you are winning at the time you make it. Big Baby, who actually had a decent game, looks like a fool. Don’t talk shit when you haven’t led since the 5 minute mark in the 1st quarter. Don’t talk shit when you’re not a starter. Don’t talk shit when you haven’t accomplished anything on the court in your life. Enough of the Baby, let’s move on to the game. WHAT A GAME!!!
Derek Fisher, my new hero. There’s only 1 guy I’ve seen take over games like that, and he too is on the Lakers. Fisher, who I myself have sworn off MANY times, came through in the clutch again. He’s making a great argument for being series MVP and possibly even hanging his jersey from the rafters at Staples. D-Fish, guts.
Nice to see Lamar Odom contributing. Still worried about Ron Artest’s offense. He still needs to shoot to keep the defense honest. As for the Cs, they can blame this game on Ray Allen who put up a big donut, and Paul Pierce. Lakers back in the driver’s seat, oh what I would give for a sweep in Boston….
Here we go again.. Just a few days after the Los Angeles Lakers blasted the Celtics in game 1, the Lakers go ahead and get stomped by Ray Allen and his cronies. I’m not gonna sit here and blame it on the ref, the calls went bad both ways. you can’t let the refs dictate the game. Where do I start? Let’s see, Ron Artest 1 for 10 from the field and 3 for 8 from the charity stripe? Garbage. Lamar Odom, why even show up if you’re gonna stink it up? Odom had more fouls (5) than points (3). Kobe Bryant, bad shot after bad shot. He never got in the game. Very disappointed. The only thing working for the Lakers was the bigs, Bynum and Gasol combining for 46 points on 13 for 20 shooting. I don’t even want to get into the Lakers’ bench, I can’t stand Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown. So much inconsistent play from these guys. Finally, Lakers’ defense. DON’T LEAVE RAY ALLEN OPEN. He can shoot 3s, he can make them. As for the Celtics, forget about Ray Allen’s 8 3-pointers, Rajon Rondo and his triple double killed Lakers. This kid got offensive rebound after offensive rebound. He had more rebounds (12) than ANYONE on the Lakers. All the Lakers had to do was hold court. Now, Boston split here, heading back home with all the momentum. I’m not saying they’re gonna win all three but it’s going to be REAL hard for the Lakers to steal 1, let alone 2. For some reason, it seems that Boston has a lot more offensive weapons than the Lakers. Even that thug Nate Robinson comes in and hits a 3. Who on the Lakers can do that? Let me throw out some key stats: Lakers shoot 5-22 from 3 point range, Celtics, 11 for 16. Lakers outrebounded 44-38 (even though Lakers have two 7-footers). Paul Pierce shoots 2-11, but Cs still end up with a win. I’m done with stats. I feel sick to my stomach. It feels like 2008 all over again.
What a game! Kobe Bryant and his fellow Lakers did what they needed to in Game 1 of the NBA Finals: not just win, but send a message. Sure, there may have been a couple of bad calls but they went both ways. Kobe leading the way with 30 and my dog RON ARTEST bringin’ the noise. This guy brought intensity from the first minute, setting the tone physically with a double tech with Paul Pierce. Shooting 3-5 from behind the arc didn’t hurt either. Celtics looked a little discombobulated. KG played like he was 34, Ray Allen was plagued with foul trouble; Rajon Rondo looked average (even though he filled the box scores); and the old psycho Rasheed Wallace was back at his old tricks. He played a decent game on paper but mentally, this guy just took his whole team out of the game. Back to the series, Lakers MUST win game 2. Not celebrating yet, but frankly, I think the Lakers could play a lot better, which is something Boston should be very scared of. I’d like to see Pau Gasolget going a little bit more offensively early on and Lamar Odom, well, I’d like to see 19 and 19. Next game Sunday. Beat BOS-TON, beat BOS-TON, beat BOS-TON!!!
Lebron James is gone. Make no mistake, this was his last game as a Cleveland Cavalier. He quit on his team 2 days ago in that 30 point blowout at home. That was evident. He made his point, which was “my team sucks if I don’t drop 50 a night.” But there’s no way he was going to come back and have a monster game, in Boston, after mailing it in 1 game before (even if he wanted to, which he didn’t). Don’t look at his triple double and be impressed by it. 9 turnovers and 8-21 shooting is garbage. The triple double is just Lebron’s way of saying “hey, I showed up, there was nothing more I could do.” Glad Shaq isn’t going to win a title though. Mo Williams, 20 points in the 1st half, only 2 in the second? I wouldn’t stay in Cleveland if I was ‘bron. Go to NY, go to Chicago, go get a new start while you’re still young. Look at KG, look how happy he is in Boston. Too bad it happened so late in his career. I do think that we might have to revoke his “King” nickname. No reason for him to be crowned that until he starts playing like one, when it counts. Guess I gotta cheer for the Magic now, can’t stand the thought of the Cs winning another. When did Rajon Rondo become the best point guard in the league? Mike Brown better start updating his resume…
Well, they just beat the Miami Heat and have advanced to the Eastern Conference semi-finals. The Heat never put much of a fight. The Celts were up by 21 at one point before the Heat came storming back to bring it to 7 but that was it. The Heat is a PERFECT example of why 1 player by himself cannot win a series. Dwayne Wade, who dropped 31 en route to what I feel is his last game with the Heat, had more point than the other 4 Heat starters. Jermaine O’Neal, almost tying his postseason high of 8 points with a magical 3-10 shooting and 7 points. Disappointed in Michael Beasley, too. 2 points as a starter, you gotta be kidding me. No reason for Wade to stay. As for the Celts, dare I say they’re gelling??? The ONLY reason I would want the Celtics to beat the Cavs is because the Cavs are the only team that can beat the Lakers. That and the fact that I don’t want Shaq to win another ring. It’s personal for us Angelinos. Celtics’ “Big 4” all scoring in double digits is definitely bad news for the Cavs, their next round opponent. I can’t wait to see one of these two teams get eliminated. The Celtics with all their shit talking and thugging and the Lebron with all his dancing and partying all season long. Bitter sweet, bitter sweet.
Paul Pierce is clutch. I’ll say it again… Paul Pierce is CLUTCH. Now those that read my blog know that I can’t stand the Cs, they’re a classless group of thugs that are a far cry from the days of Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. Going back to Paul Pierce, he’s clutch. He’s the only one from the “Big 3” that has any game left in him. Not that hitting a game winning jumper against the Miami Heat is that big of a feat, but still, let’s give credit where it’s due. I don’t know why the Heat couldn’t defend Pierce. He has 1 move: dribble, step back elbow jumper. I’ve seen it for years. Bad coaching, bad playering (if that’s an actual word). Did I tell you that the Heat have already mailed it in? Jermaine O’Neal, the epitome of consistency, going 1-7 in 19 minutes. Ata boy!
