Week 15 College Bowl Picks

top252.jpg1- BCS Title Bowl – Ohio State better than everyone thinks. LSU not as good as everyone thinks. Close throughout, but look for the Buckeye defense to be the difference. Take Ohio State +4.5..
2- The Rose Bowl – Another Rose Bowl, another USC appearance. The Trojans one of the hottest teams in the nation. Illinois with their hands full, but they did beat the number one team in the nation earlier in the year. SC more powerful, more talented, more experienced. Illinois won’t know what hit them early, may make a run late. I like USC -14.
3- The Sugar Bowlpadlock3.jpg Maybe the second hottest team in the nation, the Georgia Bulldogs look to feast on some Warriors. Hawaii has their hands full. They will realize what it’s like to play a real team. Georgia routs. My lock! Take Georgia -9.
4- The Fiesta Bowl – Not a bad consolation game for a team who thought they were on their way to the national championship game. Still have a lot to play for, Kansas will have their hands full proving to the nation they are a football powerhouse. Virginia Tech getting better as the season progressed should take care of business. I like Virginia Tech -4.
5- The Orange Bowl – No championship game… no head coach either. Rodriguez leaves and so will the Mountaineer’s winning records. The Sooners, already the favorites in this one, should cruise past a West Virginia team coming off their worst losses of the season. Their coach and their last game. Take Oklahoma -8.
6- Capital One Bowl – The best three loss team in the nation, the Florida Gators look to start their national championship run for next year with this years bowl game. Michigan may have found their new head coach, but they won’t find a way to beat the faster, more talented Gators. Take Florida -10.5.
7- Cotton Bowl
– Missouri with a lot to prove, will come out with guns blazin’ in this one. Arkansas happy to be there, won’t know what hit them. The Tigers the better team, but they have to find a way to stop Run DMC. Razorbacks will keep it close early, but won’t be able to outscore the Tigers. Take Missouri -3.5.
8- Gator Bowl – Should be an entertaining game throughout. Evenly matched, the team to make the least errors will prevail. Both Texas Tech and Virginia looked good at times throughout the season, but inconsistent play prevented better records. I like Virginia +6.
9- Outback Bowl
– Badgers started off the season strong, tailed off in the middle, and finished strong. Better than their record indicates, but inconsistent play was their downfall. Tennessee should have beaten LSU in the last game of the year, but costly turnovers blew the game. Turnovers will decide this one as well. The Vols learned their lesson. I like Tennessee -3.5.
10. Chick-Fil-A-Bowl
– Two teams who underachieved this year, look for an entertaining game. Close throughout, the better and more experienced coached Auburn team will prevail over Clemson. Take Auburn +2.

Bowling Anyone?

bcs-crystal.jpgThe time is finally here. The time of year where everyone complains that their team didn’t make it. The time of year where two teams love the BCS and how it works, while all the others can’t wait for a playoff system. Without further ado, here are the BCS matchups: Rose Bowl – The Trojans getting sick of playing in the granddaddy of them all, Illinois there for the first time since 1983. Sugar Bowl – Colt Brennan and his Warriors finally on the big stage, their chance to prove they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as BCS conference teams, while Georgia comes in as one of the hottest teams in the league. Fiesta Bowl – The Sooners can’t quite make the championship game, but almost always in an important bowl game at the end of the year. West Virginia better forget about their last loss to the powerhouse team known as Pitt, SOONER rather than later. Orange Bowl – Kansas chosen over Missouri, even though they lost to them. Virginia Tech playing their best football of the season. BCS Championship Game – Not since I used to work at DMV have I seen this much backing in. Both Ohio State and LSU probably surprised to be in this one, but neither one complaining.  This the result of a crazy last day of a crazy season. … Stay tuned for my picks for these and 5 additional bowl games, coming soon…

Week 14 College Picks-Results

top251.jpg1- (3) Oklahoma at (7) Missouri – Goodbye championship game, goodbye BCS game. I said there would be a letdown playing against a tougher opponent and that’s exactly what happened. 38-17 Oklahoma… nailed it!
2- UCLA at (7) USC – SC had over 400 yards of offense and made the Bruins look like a high school football team. Never close, but never a blow out either. Trojans got the yards but not the points. Another season, another Rose Bowl appearance. 24-7 USC… got it wrong.
3- (5) Virginia Tech at (14) Boston College – Screw my gut instincts! BC showing more and more they are a mediocre team. Tech handling business on the road. 30-16 Virginia Tech… got it wrong.
4- Oregon State at (18) Oregonpadlock3.jpg – Looked like a blowout early, give credit to the Ducks for fighting back. Not quite enough gas in the tank though. State wins in OT. I win another lock! 38-31 Oregon State… nailed it!
5- (17) Tennessee at (2) LSU – The good news is I didn’t lose another LSU pick. I didn’t win it either. The Tigers lucky just to win. Ainge completing a couple of great passes… to the other team. Bring on the Buckeyes. 21-14 LSU… pushed.
6- Washington at (10) Hawaii – Like I said, the Warriors squeak this one out. Brennan leads Hawaii to a BCS game, coming from behind against a fiecty Huskies team. 35-28 Hawaii… nailed it!
7- Pittsburgh
at (11) W. Virginia – I guess they were looking ahead. Pitt stuns their rivals. Adios championship game. Another number 2 team goes down. Has anyone seen West Virginia’s offense? 13-9 Pittsburgh… nailed it!
8- Arizona at (12) Arizona State – Should have won by more, State squeaks it out. Erickson should be coach of the year in the Pac-10, but can’t help feel the season could have been better. No BCS game for the Devils. They can blame SC for that. 20-7 Arizona State… got it wrong.
9- (19) BYU at San Diego State
– They handle business on the road the way they should. Showing that they are an above average team, BYU remains in the top 25 with a convincing win. 48-27 BYU… nailed it!
10. Army at Navy – I said it would be a blowout and that’s exactly what it was. Army no match for Navy this year. 38-3 Navy… nailed it!

Recap:  Damn I’m good! 6-3-1 not too shabby. Nailed my lock of the week. Looks like I’ll be quitting my job and soon just be betting on college football…

Week 14 College Picks

top25.jpg1- (9) Oklahoma at (1) Missouri – Strong game by Mizzou last week, look for a bit of a letdown this week. Sooners more experienced in big games. I like Oklahoma -3.
2- UCLA at (8) USC – Rose Bowl on the line. Bruins must get off to a good start if they want a chance to win this. Won’t happen! SC will win, just a matter of how much. Take USC -18.5.
3- (6) Virginia Tech at (12) Boston College – Tech looking good, but my gut says go with BC. They are due for a monster game and this is their chance to shine at home. I like Boston College +5.
4- Oregon State at (18) Oregonpadlock3.jpg – As much as I would like to think the Ducks can find a way to win, they won’t. Beavers win a close one. My lock! Take Oregon State -1.
5- (14) Tennessee at (5) LSU – Once again the Tigers screwed me last week! It took me all year, but this is the one. LSU looks to rebound. Vols won’t know what hit them. I like LSU -7.
6- Washington at (11) Hawaii – They think I am crazy, but I believe this one to be closer than most people think. The Warriors squeak it out and keep their BCS Bowl hopes alive. Take Washington +14.
7- Pittsburgh
at (2) W. Virginia – Looking better and better every week. They may take Pitt a bit too lightly, looking ahead to the National Championship game, but Mountaineers win. Not by as much as people think though. I like Pittsburgh +29.
8- Arizona at (13) Arizona State – Almost always a good game between these two teams, don’t expect anything less this time. Close throughout with the home to pulling away at the end. Take Arizona State -7.
9- (21) BYU at San Diego State
– How BYU doesn’t blow them out I don’t know. This game should be close for only a quarter. Prove you belong in the top 25! I like BYU -16
10. Army at Navy – Always entertaining, Navy the much better team. Close early, blowout late. Navy runs away at home. Take Navy -14.

Week 13 College Picks-Results

top25.jpg1- (2) Kansas vs (4) Missouri – Mizzou was no doubt the better team. Entertaining game throughout. Kansas’ defense and offense exposed in this one. 36-28 Missouri… got it wrong.
2- (11) USC at (7) Arizona Statepadlock3.jpg – Someone smells the roses, and it’s not ASU. A good old fashioned butt whoopin’ by USC. Just a reminder to everyone who ownes the Pac 10. My lock! 44-24 USC… nailed it!
3- Arkansas at (1) LSU – The Tigers keep on screwing me. Missed another LSU game and congrats to the Razorbacks. Adios National Championship. Adios Les Miles. 50-48 Arkansas… got it wrong.
4- (13) Texas at Texas A & M – Another game, another upset. Just when we think the better team will win, A & M shocks the world. 38-30 Texas A & M… got it wrong.
5- (19) Boise State at (14) Hawaii – Warriors almost sure to get a BCS bid. Maybe play USC in the Rose Bowl? Could happen if Ohio State goes to the Championship game. 39-27 Hawaii… nailed it!
6- (8) Virginia Tech at (16) Virginia – Should have gone with my instincts. Tech looked very good on the road in a rivalry game. 33-21 Virginia Tech… got it wrong.
7-
(9) Oregon at UCLA – I would feel sorry for them, but they didn’t seem to feel sorry for USC when they beat them without their starting QB and 2 lineman. Better luck next year Oregon. 16-0 UCLA… nailed it!
8- (7) Georgia at Georgia Tech – Now can we give them respect? Solid performance on the road in a hostile environment. Kudos for a great year. 31-17 Georgia… nailed it!
9- Oklahoma State at (10) Oklahoma
– We knew the Sooners were better, but we didn’t know State would lay an egg! What was that? Nice fumble at the goal line. Oklahoma crushes State. 49-17 Oklahoma… got it wrong.
10-Miami at (14) Boston College – Almost got this one. BC pushes against a bad Miami team. 28-14 Boston College… pushed!

Recap: Very disappointed. A man of my caliber should not have weeks like this, but just goes to show you even I am not perfect. Once again got my lock though! 4-5-1

Week 13 College Picks

top25.jpg1- (2) Kansas vs (4) Missouri – Tough game to pick. Both well coached and playing their best football of the year. The team to make the least mistakes wins this. Neutral field. I like Kansas -2.
2- (11) USC at (7) Arizona Statepadlock3.jpg – The biggest game of the year for both of these teams! The Trojans playing better football lately and are battle tested. State struggling a bit. My lock of the week! I like USC -3.
3- Arkansas at (1) LSU – Haven’t gotten an LSU game right yet! But I think this is the week. At home, the Tigers will pound a one dimensional Razorback team. Take LSU -12.
4- (13) Texas at Texas A & M – Always a tough game, Texas will have their hands full this week. Close early, but Longhorns much more talented and athletic. I like Texas -6.
5- (19) Boise State at (14) Hawaii – Two non BCS teams trying to silence the critics. A must win for the Warriors if they want to have a chance at a BCS bowl game. Take Hawaii -3.
6- (8) Virginia Tech at (16) Virginia – Everything tells me Tech should win, but playing at Virginia worries me. I like Virginia +3.5.
7-
(9) Oregon at UCLA – Two teams using different quarterbacks from what they had originally planned. On the road, the Ducks will find it hard to score. Take UCLA +2.
8- (7) Georgia at Georgia Tech – When will the Bulldogs get the respect they deserve? Looking to play LSU in the conference title game, a must win this week. Take Georgia -3.
9- Oklahoma State at (10) Oklahoma
– Sooners look to rebound after a terrible effort last week. Don’t think they will recover on time to handily beat down their rivals. Oklahoma squeaks it out. I like Oklahoma State +11.
10-Miami at (14) Boston College – Back in the win column, the Eagles will ride the momentum from last week’s win and crush a hapless Hurricane squad. A blowout all the way. Take Boston College -14.

Are You Ready For Some Football!!!!!!!!!

trojan-helmut.jpgAnd no, not the NFL! I’m talking college football and it all starts Thanksgiving night. Prime Time baby! First, it’s number 11 USC on the road against number 7 Arizona State. Huge implications on the line. arizona-st-helmut.jpgThe winner most likely will go on to play in the Rose Bowl. Why? Oregon looks like they will lose at least one more game without Dixon, opening the door for USC if they win out. State also facing their toughest contest out of their two remaining games. Not to sound like a homer, but how does USC against Ohio State sound in the Rose Bowl?

As for game number two, it’s number 2 Kansas against number 4 Missouri. Kansas quite possibly playing in the biggest football game of their lives! On neutral field, get ready for a shootout and one of the most entertaining games of the year. As if that’s not enough, the winner will then have to play in their conference title game! And if that’s not enough, then they play LSU for the National Championship! Other than that, it’s an easy road for the two of these teams. Either way, it’s a great weekend to be a college football fan!

Week 12 College Picks-Results

top25.jpg1- (5) Ohio State at Michigan padlock3.jpg– I said, you guys didn’t believe it! Don’t ever question my lock of the week! (even if I get it wrong). 14-3 Ohio State… nailed it!
2- FAU at (12) Florida – Another monster performance by the Gators. Too late this season, but can help to think they will be National Champion contenders before Tebow completes his college career. 59-20 Florida… nailed it!
3- (10) Oklahoma at Texas Tech – What the hell was that? Nice performance. Sooners seem to always find a way to keep themselves the title game. 37-24 Texas Tech… got it wrong.
4- (14) Boston College at (22) Clemson – Knew they had to come through this week and that’s exactly what they did. Solid win/performance on the road. Keeps the Eagles in the top 15. 20-17 Boston College… nailed it!
5- (1) LSU at Mississippi – Starting to think the LSU gods are playing games with me. Seems like I am always on the other end of the picks. Barely missed another one. 41-24 LSU… got it wrong.
6- Kentucky at (6) Georgia – Well, thanks for being here Kentucky. Was it fun while it lasted? Bulldogs coming through at home in a big game, covering -8. 13-24 Georgia… got it wrong.
7-
(4) Missouri at Kansas State – I said they had to win and win big and theat’s what they did. Sets up a huge game for this weekend. 49-32 Missouri… nailed it!
8- Northwestern at (17) Illinois – Illinois stays on the winning track by covering against Northwestern. No let down after an emotional victory over the Buckeyes. 41-22 Illinois… nailed it!
9- (21) Wisconsin at Minnesota
– A win is a win, but not for me when they don’t cover. Good for the Badgers, bad for the Edge. 41-34 Wisconsin… got it wrong.
10-(3) W. Virginia at (24) Cincinnati – Entertaining to watch. Bears have nothing to be ashamed off. They played a good game, but like I said, the better team will win. 28-23 W. Virginia… pushed!

Recap: 5-4 and yes 1! I pushed the last game. But once again, above .500 and nailing my lock of the week. Damn I’m good!

Week 10 College Picks-Results

top25.jpg1- Wisconsin at (1) Ohio State – Over rated, over shmated. These guys keep on winning every week no matter who they play. They cover again. 38-17 Ohio State… nailed it!
2- Florida State at (8) Boston Collegepadlock3.jpg -Alright. Screw the Eagles. Two weeks in a row they screwed me. Should have lost to VaTech and they squeak it out at the end. Should have blown out the Seminoles and they lose. 27-17 Florida State… got it wrong.
3- (2) LSU at (21) Alabama – Saban almost pulled it out, but it was another come from behind victory for the Tigers. Les Miles and company barely win, but I was right in Alabama keeping it close. 41-34 LSU… nailed it!
4- (9) Arizona State at (3) Oregon – Let there be no doubt, Oregon is the better team. I said they would beat State with ease and that’s exactly what they did. 35-23 Oregon… nailed it!
5- Texas A & M at (4) Oklahoma – Aggies were no match for the Sooners. A blowout victory for Stoops and the gang, but will anyone ahead of them in the rankings lose a game the rest of the way? 42-14 Oklahoma… nailed it!
6- Vanderbilt at (17) Florida – They had to impress and that’s exactly what they did. Solid performance against a not so solid team. Gators take care of business. 49-22 Florida… nailed it!
7- Oregon State at (12) USC – SC’s defense manhandles the Beavers! Completely shutting them down, SC didn’t even have to score in the second half. State looked worse than I thought they would. 24-3 USC… got it wrong.
8- San Jose State at (22) Boise State – A good old fashion ass whoopin’ by Boise State. Take care of business at home winning big. 42-7 Boise State… nailed it!
9- (13) Michigan at Michigan State -Good news and bad news for Michigan fans. Wolverines keep on winning-good news. Lloyd Carr keeps on winning-bad news. Funny how we don’t see ‘fire Carr’ signs anymore. 28-24 Michigan… nailed it!
10-Troy State at (10) Georgia -Good performance but not good enough. Should have pounded a weak Troy State team. They won but didn’t cover. 44-34 Georgia… got it wrong.

Recap: I’m back baby! I am the Ohio State of picking games. Everyone says that I haven’t done anything impressive, but how’s 7-3 sound baby! Jump on this wagon! There’s plenty of room…

Week 10 College Picks

top25.jpg1- Wisconsin at (1) Ohio State – You guys call them overrated, I’ll call them the number one team in the nation. The Buckeyes keep on rollin’. Take Ohio State -16.
2- Florida State at (2) Boston Collegepadlock3.jpg -After a sub par performance last week, look for Matt Ryan and the crew to impress this week. My lock of the week! Take the Eagles -7.
3- (3) LSU at (17) Alabama – Can’t wait for this game. The Tigers are going to have their hands full. You know Saban isn’t going to hold anything back. He’ll pull all the stops in this one. I like Alabama +7.
4- (4) Arizona State at (5) Oregon – Oregon’s defense was held down a little last week by USC. Not this week! State’s got their hands full. Oregon wins and wins hands down. Take Oregon -8.5.
5- Texas A & M at (6) Oklahoma – Another easy game for the Sooners. They win but by how much? I like Oklahoma -21.
6- Vanderbilt at (20) Florida – No doubt who wins this one. The Gators must impress this week and win big. They rout this week. I like Florida -14.5.
7- Oregon State at (19) USC – An up and down season continues for SC. What will happen this week? SC favored big, but not sure why? Booty playing for the first time in a month. Look for some rust. Take Oregon State +15.5.
8- San Jose State at (22) Boise State – You know how I feel about spreads like this. Too much, but at home for Boise State. They need to impress this week. I like Boise State -25.5.
9- (12) Michigan at Michigan State -They haven’t failed me for a while. Rivalry games are always close, but these are two teams going in different directions. Wolverines continue their win streak. Take Michigan -3.
10-Troy State at (10) Georgia – Solid performance last week, the Bulldogs continue to roll. Close early, but Troy State has no chance in this win. I like Georgia -14.
