The TRUTH about Sports

Kevin Durant Rookie Of The Year

I guess the Seattle Supersonics did hit the lottery jackpot this summer by drafting Kevin Durant second. News came in today that Portland Blazers rookie Greg Oden will miss the entire season after microfracture knee surgery. As an NBA fan I feel so cheated. I know with modern medicine these days, Oden can make a full recovery and become the dominant center that everyone expected. It just seems like we may have to wait a year to see it blossum. NBA players are never quite the same after microfracture surgery. Many of them, including First Teamer Amare Stoudemire, claim to have lost a step and how the recovery time took longer than anticipated. The good news is Oden is still only 19, so this gives him plenty of time to recoup. The bad news is there seems to be a trend now with Oden and injuries. Last season at Ohio State he played with a wrist that hadn’t fully healed since he broke it in the off-season, and now we have his knee injury. I’m not ready to write him off just yet and stick him in the group of draft busts like Sam Bowie and Michael Olowokandi, I’m just sad that the NBA and its fans will have to wait a year to see this kid and Kevin Durant go at it for bragging rights. Let’s hope for a speedy recover and hope that Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard is around to see it.

LUCK Has Nothing to Do With It

5 p.m. pacific standard time, USC will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln. This is the game of the week, with the #1 ranked Trojans are 9.5 favorites against the #14th ranked Huskers. SC has done this before, entered hostile territory and been counted out by many, before they’ve laid an ass whoopin on the host team (Auburn, Arkansas, Notre Dame, etc.) QB Sam Keller, a transfer from Arizona State, last faced SC in 2005, when he threw 5 picks in 1 game. The challenge for SC will be stopping Jr. RB Marion Lucky, who has rushed for 323 yrds and 4 tds in 2 games this year. Earlier this week Keller stated that he chose to transfer to Nebraska because SC was on their schedule. Be careful for what you ask for, oh wise one. Look for SC to start off slow, but capitalize on many Keller turnovers. This will be the breakout game for Booty and the rest of the offense. Final score: 42- 17 in an SC victory.
