HEAT STRIKE FIRST

Before everyone gets excited, the Miami Heat were supposed to win this game. For all you Heat fans, I wouldn’t get too excited about this win ’cause the Boston Celtics are gonna come out gunning in Game 2.  I’m pretty sure Dwayne Wade isn’t going to drop 38 points again. And even if he does, it ain’t gonna be enough.  But they’re going need more than 3 points from Bibby and Ilgauskas COMBINED.  I don’t think they’re going to get 25 form James Jones again.  I’m happy for the journeyman, but the kid had a career night. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad the Cs got burned.  I’m cheering for the Heat to take the series. But I think the ref ejecting Paul Pierce in the 4th quarter was a little trigger happy. We all know Pierce is a bitch and let’s hope that this teaches him a lesson. Maybe he’ll shut his trap for a couple of games.  And for all you Celtics fans that think that the ejection decided the game, the Heat were up by 13 by then and there were only 7 minutes left in the game.  Pumped about game two.   This series is gonna be vicious.

CELTS PUT AN END TO KNICKS MISERY

Thanks for coming New York. The Celtics completed a sweep of Knicks today, waxing them in the Garden.  I’m a little disappointed in the way the Knicks finished this series.  Sure, you can blame it on injuries, but after losing by a couple points both times in Boston in games 1 & 2, I thought (I don’t know why) that they would at least get one game at home.  Instead, the Knickerbockers just rolled over and played dead. Again, I understand the woes of Amare and Chauncy, but I gotta be honest with you, there are some players on the Knicks squad that shouldn’t be in the NBA, let alone starting.  I’m happy NY made it to the playoffs, but they’re still a long way from becoming competitors. I’m also gonna need a little more from Carmelo.  He seems to be always smiling (ala Dwight Howard). Lead your team for Pete’s sake.  I feel like this guy lacks that certain “umphh” that the Kobes and Chris Pauls and Dwayne Wades possess.  Heck, the Celtics Big 4 all have that swagger that says wreaks of “I’ma kill you!”  Anyway, still a successful season for the Knicks.  Next year, they’re gonna have to improve and move on to the second round, let alone win 1 playoff game. They’re gonna need to sign some players.  Can’t win with Ronny Turiaf in your starting lineup. By the way, get rid of this guy while your at it (Spike Lee).

DERRICK ROSE IS LEGIT

It’s time to give credit where it’s due. Derrick Rose is the quickest point guard in the league. Derrick Rose is the best scoring point guard in the league. Derrick Rose is averaging 8.5 assists and 1 steal a game. Dare I say he’s the best point guard in the league? Remember,  a point guard has to have that unique ability to score, penetrate, and dish.  And oh yeah, some defense wouldn’t be bad.  I always liked Steve Nash but he never played defense.  I love Rajon Rondo but he’s not enough of an offensive threat.Deron Williams is probably the only comparable guard out there, but he’s got 4 more years of miles on him and I’m pretty sure that Rose is a step quicker.  I’ve never seen someone change directions quicker than Rose.  Let’s not forget Chris Paul. The epitome of a true point guard.  16 ppg and almost 10 dimes, not bad, but not Rose. One last kid I’m gonna mention is Russell Westbrook. I think him and Rose are gonna be going at it for the next decade. I still think Rose is the cream of the crop.  The scary thing is he’s only 23 years old and has years of getting better.  We already saw his 3-point shot improve from 22% in his rookie year to 36% this year. His points per game, free throw %, assists, steals, blocks and rebounds are all increasing each yet.  I’d like to see his shooting percentage over 45% but he’s pretty much on the border.  Enough strokin’ this guy.  He’s money. All we gotta do is give him a nickname, ‘cuz “Pooh” ain’t cutting it. P.S. he’s got the prettiest teardrop floater in the league.

GO HOME BOSTON!!! SWEET 16 FOR LAKERS

All the Sullies in the world can now shut their mouths. All the angry Boson fans in LA can now leave. Dane Cook can jump off the bandwagon he was on for 2 weeks. Maria Menounos can go back to hosting the real world. What a game!!! Karma’s a bitch Celtics. Take your 80s chants of Beat LA, take your nasty chants of “ugly sister,” take your weak-ass chants of “no means no” and shove them up your ASSES!!! To quote the big Shaq Fu, tell me how my ass tastes. First of all, I gotta say, we lucked out. That game was Celtic-controlled for 3 quarters. I think they ran out of legs. Ray Allen, garbage. Paul Pierce, choke city. KG had a half decent game for a player his age. Rajon Rondo, as much as I dislike him, is the sickest point guard in the NBA. He needs to practice his outside J. Enough of the crap, let’s talk showtime. Poor game by Kobe Bryant, but he came through with a couple of clutch plays in the 4th. Legacy, shlegacy, he found a way to win with his 15 rebounds. Ron Artest, game MVP in my book. Played more minutes than anybody (46). His line, 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals. HUGE!!! I couldn’t be happier for a person winning the title. This guy deserves it more than anyone. Derek Fisher, clutch. Biggest shot of the game, tying it up with a 3 (from range) at 64. Great game by Gasol on paper. His double double was solid but he did shoot poorly (6-16). Probably the most consistent Laker this finals. Should’ve got the MVP though. Lakers FTs almost cost of this game. But now, we can chill. Relax in LA this summer and wait ’till the ring ceremony next season. I do have to reconsider my Kobe is better than Jordan stance though. I LOVE LA!!!

RAJON RONDO: HOW’S YOUR FACE!!!

This just out, Rajon Rondo is trying out for the part of Glass Joe in the new Mike Tyson’s Punchout video game.  You remember when Rondo pushed Ron Artest in game 5 and everyone in Boston held their collective breaths in fear of Artest tearing up Rondo?  Well, Rondo was sent back to high school today after taking an “inadvertent” elbow to the chops from Ron Artest. Karma’s a bitch!  You’d think the guy was shot by a sniper in the Staple’s Restaurant, the way he went down.  Rondo’s act on the ground led to a Lakers’ fast break and a 3-point dagger by Sasha Vujacic, thanks for coming, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. All I’m saying is that for all the toughness and grit the Celtics have and are known for, they sure are a bunch of pussies. I’m gonna leave Kendrick Perkins out of this one, cause I too recently suffered a knee injury (torn ACL).  But Paul Pierce, KG, Ray Allen, and now Rondo, sneeze on these guys and down they go.  I thought Derek Fisher was the flop master but these guys take the cake. Getting back to the game, BLOW OUT CITY… This is exactly what the Lakers and their fans wanted, a win and a MESSAGE. We’ll talk more about that later on… ONE MORE GAME!!! BOS-TON SUCKS! BOS-TON SUCKS! BOS_TON SUCKS!!!

VINTAGE (2008) LAKERS

Here we go again.. Just a few days after the Los Angeles Lakers blasted the Celtics in game 1, the Lakers go ahead and get stomped by Ray Allen and his cronies. I’m not gonna sit here and blame it on the ref, the calls went bad both ways.  you can’t let the refs dictate the game.  Where do I start?  Let’s see, Ron Artest 1 for 10 from the field and 3 for 8 from the charity stripe? Garbage. Lamar Odom, why even show up if you’re gonna stink it up? Odom had more fouls (5) than points (3).  Kobe Bryant, bad shot after bad shot.  He never got in the game.  Very disappointed.  The only thing working for the Lakers was the bigs, Bynum and Gasol combining for 46 points on 13 for 20 shooting. I don’t even want to get into the Lakers’ bench, I can’t stand Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown.  So much inconsistent play from these guys. Finally, Lakers’ defense.  DON’T LEAVE RAY ALLEN OPEN.  He can shoot 3s, he can make them.  As for the Celtics, forget about Ray Allen’s 8 3-pointers, Rajon Rondo and his triple double killed Lakers.  This kid got offensive rebound after offensive rebound.  He had more rebounds (12) than ANYONE on the Lakers. All the Lakers had to do was hold court. Now, Boston split here, heading back home with all the momentum. I’m not saying they’re gonna win all three but it’s going to be REAL hard for the Lakers to steal 1, let alone 2.  For some reason, it seems that Boston has a lot more offensive weapons than the Lakers.  Even that thug Nate Robinson comes in and hits a 3.  Who on the Lakers can do that? Let me throw out some key stats: Lakers shoot 5-22 from 3 point range, Celtics, 11 for 16. Lakers outrebounded 44-38 (even though Lakers have two 7-footers). Paul Pierce shoots 2-11, but Cs still end up with a win. I’m done with stats.  I feel sick to my stomach.  It feels like 2008 all over again.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS: 1 DOWN, 3 TO GO

What a game! Kobe Bryant and his fellow Lakers did what they needed to in Game 1 of the NBA Finals: not just win, but send a message.  Sure, there may have been a couple of bad calls but they went both ways. Kobe leading the way with 30 and my dog RON ARTEST bringin’ the noise. This guy brought intensity from the first minute, setting the tone physically with a double tech  with Paul Pierce.  Shooting 3-5 from behind the arc didn’t hurt either. Celtics looked a little discombobulated.  KG played like he was 34, Ray Allen was plagued with foul trouble; Rajon Rondo looked average (even though he filled the box scores); and the old psycho Rasheed Wallace was back at his old tricks.  He played a decent game on paper but mentally, this guy just took his whole team out of the game. Back to the series, Lakers MUST win game 2. Not celebrating yet, but frankly, I think the Lakers could play a lot better, which is something Boston should be very scared of. I’d like to see Pau Gasolget going a little bit more offensively early on and Lamar Odom, well, I’d like to see 19 and 19. Next game Sunday. Beat BOS-TON, beat BOS-TON, beat BOS-TON!!!

VINCE CARTER: BORN LOSER

There are some guys that are winners and some that just aren’t.  Let me introduce you to Vince Carter, of the Orlando Magic, Mr. Individual.  Never won a title as a Tarheel, couldn’t win when he played for Toronto with a then good Tracy McGrady (remember, he missed a game winning jumper because he had to attend his college graduation); couldn’t make noise with the Nets when they had Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson; and now, is trying to fill the empty shoes left by Hedo Turkoglu. I was the first to say that the Magic downgraded when they let Hedo sign with the Raptors and signed Vince.  Carter is a “sexy” sign (on paper), but on the court, he rarely shows up when it counts.  His last game against Boston, he was 5-15. He’s a good individual player, not a team player.  He is was a dunker. Not sure if I’d vote him into the Hall of Fame, as I don’t think that spectacular dunks is a category? 1 week ago, everyone was talking about how the Magic were the best team in the NBA, having swept through the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. And now, after going 0-2 to the old and decrepit yet Wiley and savvy Boston Celtics, the Magic suck and are about to get swept. The main difference between last year’s Magic and this one…VINSANITY.  Kudos for dunking over that 7 foot French center in the 2000 Olympics and possibly being the greatest slam dunk champion ever, but ala Chris Webber, neither you nor the team you play on will ever win a title.

CAVS LOSE SERIES, CLEVELAND LOSES LEBRON

Lebron James is gone.  Make no mistake, this was his last game as a Cleveland Cavalier.  He quit on his team 2 days ago in that 30 point blowout at home.  That was evident.  He made his point, which was “my team sucks if I don’t drop 50 a night.”  But there’s no way he was going to come back and have a monster game, in Boston, after mailing it in 1 game before (even if he wanted to, which he didn’t). Don’t look at his triple double and be impressed by it.  9 turnovers and 8-21 shooting is garbage. The triple double is just Lebron’s way of saying “hey, I showed up, there was nothing more I could do.” Glad Shaq isn’t going to win a title though.  Mo Williams, 20 points in the 1st half, only 2 in the second? I wouldn’t stay in Cleveland if I was ‘bron.  Go to NY, go to Chicago, go get a new start while you’re still young.  Look at KG, look how happy he is in Boston.  Too bad it happened so late in his career.  I do think that we might have to revoke his “King” nickname.  No reason for him to be crowned that until he starts playing like one, when it counts.  Guess I gotta cheer for the Magic now, can’t stand the thought of the Cs winning another. When did Rajon Rondo become the best point guard in the league? Mike Brown better start updating his resume…

CELTICS PLOT TO OVERTHROW KING

Well, they just beat the Miami Heat and have advanced to the Eastern Conference semi-finals.  The Heat never put much of a fight. The Celts were up by 21 at one point before the Heat came storming back to bring it to 7 but that was it.  The Heat is a PERFECT example of why 1 player by himself cannot win a series. Dwayne Wade, who dropped 31 en route to what I feel is his last game with the Heat, had more point than the other 4 Heat starters.  Jermaine O’Neal, almost tying his postseason high of 8 points with a magical 3-10 shooting and 7 points. Disappointed in Michael Beasley, too.  2 points as a starter, you gotta be kidding me.  No reason for Wade to stay.  As for the Celts, dare I say they’re gelling??? The ONLY reason I would want the Celtics to beat the Cavs is because the Cavs are the only team that can beat the Lakers. That and the fact that I don’t want Shaq to win another ring.  It’s personal for us Angelinos. Celtics’ “Big 4” all scoring in double digits is definitely bad news for the Cavs, their next round opponent.  I can’t wait to see one of these two teams get eliminated.  The Celtics with all their shit talking and thugging and the Lebron with all his dancing and partying all season long.  Bitter sweet, bitter sweet.
