NEW YORK GIANTS: The Art of Choking

How do you blow a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter, with 11 minutes left to play?  Well, ask the NY Giants.  Michael Vick and his band of merry men walked all over the G-Men in the 4th today.  Winning on a reeedonkulous Desean Jackson punt return as time expired.  It’s been a bad week for New Yorkers. First, Cliff Lee spurns them to sign with the Phillies, for less money. Then this!  Whoever would’ve thought that the Knicks would be the hottest team in the city. I gotta give credit to Mike Vick.  I hated on this guy for the immoral things he did off the field.  But he’s come a long way and will probably get the comeback player of the year award.  He should also be in consideration for MVP.  Vick led the way with 3 passing TDs and 1 rushing. With two home games left against the lowly Vikings and the Cowboys, looks like the Eagles are headed to the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if these guys represent teh NFC in the playoffs. By the way, I hate Desean Jackson.

joe torre and george steinbrenner onthebuzzer.comGeorge Steinbrenner has spoken: “His job is on the line. I think we’re paying him a lot of money. He’s the highest-paid manager in baseball, so I don’t think we’d take him back i we don’t win this series.” Now I’m all for the firing of Joe Torre, and they might as well throw in Brian Cashman as well. The Yankees have fallen short of league and fan expectations every year for god knows how long. But I’m not down with calling out Torre in public. The comment did not need to be said through the media. If Steiny thinks that this i gonna jump start the Yanks and win 3 in a row, I got 3 words for you, well actually 2 initials and 1 word C.C. SABATHIA. I head the Pirates are looking for a manager.

Cleveland Indians Swat Yankees in 11

Posada Disinfects RiveraAfter 11 grueling, gnat infested innings, the Cleveland Indians have protected their homefield advantage and now head to New York up 2-0. Both pitchers Fausto Carmona and Andy Pettite showed up big, with 1 earned run in 15 1/2 total innings between the 2 of them. But at the end, Travis PRONKEY Hafner proved to be too much for them.  The professional hitter deluxe came up to bat with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 11 and…base hit single over the 2nd baseman’s head.  Thanks for coming bombers, enjoy the flight home.

By the way, I’m officially starting the Kenny Lofton for ALDS MVP campaign.

The man-crush of the week goes to Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez, more commonly known as A-Rod. He’s got 48 home runs on the year and with 22 games remaining, he might knock on the door of 60. His 134 RBIs and 312 avg. make him the leading MVP candidate. By the end of his career, he will have easily dwarfed Bonds‘ home run record. Despite being booed by New Yorkers countless times this year, A-Rod has led not only his Yankees (that’s right, his Yankees) to the playoffs but he has also led many fantasy owners to the money. If A-Rod opts out of his contract next year, the Yankees and their fans will have plenty of time to boo the players that actually deserve that type of ribbing. Congrats A-Rod, we love you here on the west coast (I hear the Angels are looking for a third basemen).
