TITANS SACK VINCE YOUNG

And with the 8th overall pick of the NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans select…. a quarterback? 4 years after selecting Vince Young from Texas, the Tennessee Titans and owner Bud Adams have decided to end the VY experiment.  The rift between the coach and the player has been lingering for years only to come to a climax this season, leading to the Titans’ losing 8 of their last 9.  I’m glad someone finally took the coach’s side over the diva players’.  NFL and most modern day athletes are so spoiled and used to getting their own way that when something like this happens, everyone is so shocked.  This is how it used to be, when sports was real.  Coaches these days have to walk on eggshells when they criticize their star/franchise players.  Jeff Fisher has been coaching this team for 16 years or so.  If you think there’s another qualified coach out their, good luck finding one.  The Titans can easily draft a scrambling quarterback, they’re a dime a dozen in college. I don’t think VY every played up to his potential.  Then again, I do believe that his type of quarterbacks, while successful in the short term, can never win you a Superbowl.  Look at Vick and McNabb. It’s no coincidence all the winning Superbowl quarterbacks have been pocket passers… Brady, Manning, Brees.  I’m sure there will be some suitors for Vince Young.  Half the league is in need of a quarterback.  As for the Titans, they’re 1 QB and 1 WR away from making a deep run in the playoffs.  They have the best runnign back in the game in Chris Johnson, and like most RB careers go, he’s got about 2 more years of playing at this level. The next move the Titans have to make is cutting Randy Moss.  Look how it helped the New England Patriots.  I love Moss but he reeks of clubhouse cancer.  You can’t have selfish guys like that on a team, especially without a true team captain to put him in place. It’s going to be an interesting offseason…wait a minute, don’t the playoffs start this weekend?

NEW YORK GIANTS: The Art of Choking

How do you blow a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter, with 11 minutes left to play?  Well, ask the NY Giants.  Michael Vick and his band of merry men walked all over the G-Men in the 4th today.  Winning on a reeedonkulous Desean Jackson punt return as time expired.  It’s been a bad week for New Yorkers. First, Cliff Lee spurns them to sign with the Phillies, for less money. Then this!  Whoever would’ve thought that the Knicks would be the hottest team in the city. I gotta give credit to Mike Vick.  I hated on this guy for the immoral things he did off the field.  But he’s come a long way and will probably get the comeback player of the year award.  He should also be in consideration for MVP.  Vick led the way with 3 passing TDs and 1 rushing. With two home games left against the lowly Vikings and the Cowboys, looks like the Eagles are headed to the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if these guys represent teh NFC in the playoffs. By the way, I hate Desean Jackson.

NFL LOCK OF THE WEEK

I was “perusing” this week’s games to see if I can “supplement” my income.  One game that stood out is the Philadelphia Eagles at the Chicago Bears with the Eagles being favored on the road by 3.5 points.  MY LOCK: TAKE THE BEARS.  Here’s why:  the Eagles and the rest of the country are on this Michael Vick high.  They almost lost to the Giants last week if it weren’t for Manning’s bonehead fumble.  Frankly, I’m not sold on Mike Vick.  Sure he’s exceeding everyone’s expectations but they were set so low that anytime he completes an average pass, everybody ooohs and aaaahs.  It looks like Vick starts games hot but fades in the fourth quarter. The Bears on the other hand have quietly put together 7-3 season.  Credit Lovie Smith for getting these guys to believe in themselves.  Their defense looks like the defense from the Superbowl team a few years back. Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman, Julius Peppers…. Wow, talk about scary. 2 out of 3 of their losses this year have been by 3 points.  So take my advice,  and take the Chicago Bears ’cause there’s no way the Bears are gonna lose at home, not this week at least. You can thank me later.

NFL KARMA GODS WORKING OVERTIME

This NFL season has turned out to be AWESOME so far.  I don’t know about you guys, but Donovan McNabb and the Redskins beating the the Philadelphia Eagles felt so good for me.  Must’ve been nice for Donovan to rub it in his former employers’ face.  “Trade me to a division rival” is the same as saying “F-off, you’re no threat to us.” Well the Eagles lost Michael Vick to injuries after he seemed to resurrect his career.  Shouldn’t have harmed those dogs.  How about Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears? One of the biggest cry babies in the league getting sacks countless amount of times and knocked out of the game with a concussion.  I’m not even going to start with Brett Favre. Nothing more fun than watching NFL this year… well watching them and betting on the games makes it a wee bit more interesting.

ANDY REID DOING THE QB SHUFFLE

The song goes something like this: “Kevin Kolb is our future, trade Donovan McNabb; Kolb is our quarterback, Vick is the back-up; Vick is the starter, only until Kolb come back; Kolb is the starter; Vick is the backup; Vick is the starter, Kolb is the backup.”

I have mixed feelings about this.  On the one hand, we all know what we get with Michael Vick: a moron who has had troublesome past off the field but on the field, spectacular plays but nothing else.  We all know that Vick can win some games, but he will never take you to the Superbowl.  He’s good for a playoff birth and possibly 1 win but that’s it.  It’s easy for teams to scheme against him because he’s one dimensional.  And don’t come at me with he can throw now.  For the love of god, they only beat the Detroit Lions, let’s see what he’ll do against the Jaguars this week.

On the other hand, I think it’s a great move benching Kolb.  The kid never got a chance to prove himself.  If the Eagles lose this week’s game against Jacksonville, the fans would’ve called for his head. Unless he played a perfect game, there was no way he was going to come out winning.  And let’s be honest, the Jags are gonna beat the Eagles this week.  Then I want to hear what the critics and the Vick lovers have to say. Until then, enjoy the honeymoon Mike, because you certainly DON’T deserve it. As for Coach Reid, you just lost your “future” quarterback’s trust.

Michael Vick to the Philadelphia Eagles

michael vickWow!!! I don’t know what’s bigger news, Vick to the Eagles or Madden 2010 coming out?  Michael Vick has just signed a 2 year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles who are run by Donovan McNabb.  Why would they pick him up? A secret weapon perhaps?  Maybe Andy Reid was sick of all the distractions that revolved around his family? Maybe the Eagles got sick of the seeing the Giants and the Cowboys be the toast of the NFC East?  I don’t know.  Not sure if it’s a good pickup on both a team level and PR level.  I do know one thing though, Vick better send Tony Dungy a basket of fruit or something.  If it wasn’t for Dungy vouching and lobbying for this guy, he’s be playing in the AFL or even worse, for the Raiders. I guess if he shows remorse for what he’s done, everyone deserves a second chance… right?  I don’t know, this guy did some serious shit to those dogs.  I’m glad they put him in the penn for a year and I’m more glad that it almost ruined his career (I say almost because we won’t know if it did until he gets some touches).  Oh well, it’s gonna be an interesting season to say the least.  Wonder how many % of managers will draft him in their fantasy leagues?

NYC Accepting Applications for Biggest MUFF

Well folks, it’s come down to just two, Stephon Marbury and Plaxico Burress. Who wants it more?  Who’s gonna be more of a distraction to his team?  Who can be more selfish?  It seems like it was just last year when the NY cleansed itself of the last remaining douchebags in its sports team, in Isaiah Thomas and Jeremy Shockey. But what a pleasant surprise to the rest of the nation when Starbury and Plax felt it necessary to step up and carry the torch of their forefathers. With Plaxico out for the rest of the year, it’s just a matter of time before Starbury’s career in NY is over. Kudos to the NY Giants’ organization for placing him on the non-injured reserve list for the rest of the season, whatever their reason might be. I would love to see the G-men go all the way this year, AGAIN, without Burress.  His overpaid, overrated-ass needs a big slice of humble pie.  Why does he have a gun on him anyway?  Does this guy think he’s a thug? Am I the only one that finds it funny that he shot himself?  Maybe he should go talk to Mike Vick about how easy it is to throw away your career.  As for Stephon, in his defense, he just wants what he’s owed.  The Knicks should’ve never taken on that ginormous contract of his.  And frankly, now they have to pay the price. If they’re smart, they’ll put their pride aside and buy this guy out and chalk it up to another “Knick-up.”  Either that, or they should have him ride the pine and rot away for the rest of the season.  I can’t imagine any team in the league that would want someone like this on there roster.  Plus, his shoes are the nastiest shoes I’ve ever seen. I’d rather wear pro-wings from payless shoes. Oh well, keep it up might Plax and Steph, because yes, you both are above the law and above us all.  After all, without you, we’d have nothing to laugh write about.

Vick Gets 23 Months

michael vick onthebuzzer.comAtlanta Falcons ex-quarterback/dog killer got sentenced to 23 months in prison on Monday.  If you want my osoap on a rope onthebuzzer.compinion, well I’m still gonna give it, it ain’t long enough.  This guy pissed away money, a career and a life that most of us dream of and will never come close to.  And I don’t wanna hear anyone say that he’s gonna come back to the NFL and play a different position like defensive back or slot receiver or running back.  After two years in the penn, albeit it’ll probably some club fed or something, Vick’s natural talent should diminish.  Plus, trying to learn a new position at the age of 30, I don’t think so.  Although, I’m sure he could start for the Miami Dolphins.  As for those Falcons fans that came out and supported him throughout this ordeal and on Monday Night when the Falcons got ripped at home by the Saints, walk off a short cliff. The world would be a better place without y’all. As for Vick, don’t drop your soap.

Exit Joey, Stage Left

The hammer came down on Joey Harrington when the Falcons announced that Byron Leftwich would get the start against the New Orleans Saints. The move was inevitable, and after the Falcons signed Leftwich, you knew it was only a matter of time before he got the starting job. In Harrington’s defense, he really hasn’t been that horrible. Harrington has completed 123 of 195 passes for 1,279 yards and a passer rating of 80.3 with four touchdowns and four picks. The problem with the Falcons has been the horrible offensive line which has allowed 22 sacks. That doesn’t bode well for Leftwich, who is about as mobile as your everyday lawn chair. If Bobby Petrino and the Falcons think that Leftwich will step in and provide an instant spark to this sorry club, then they’re as ridiculous as Brad Childress calling Chester Taylor his number one back. This team was doomed from the beginning after the Michael Vick fiasco, and this season is a wash. The Falcons could stick pretty much anyone at QB and it wouldn’t make a difference. So if they think that Leftwich will do what Harrington couldn’t, then by all means I’m for it. Just don’t look for the Falcons to become the Patriots overnight, and don’t go picking up Leftwich for your fantasy team just yet.

Con Vick Update

vick em t-shirts onthebuzzer.com

Since pleading guilty, Mike Vick been spending time playing with dogs and trying to rehab his image so the Judge will go easy on him when sentencing time comes in December. Fortunately for us, the Falcons haven’t forgotten. Looks like the Atlanta Falcons have one the battle in reclaiming the $20 million signing bonus received by Michael Vick. The war is not over, as the evil player’s union is sure to appeal the decision.

vick em t-shirts onthebuzzer.com

Texas Tech fans hit below the belt, as some students have decided to print some “funny” shirts for the game against rival A&M this weekend. The shirts are offensive, not to dick, I mean Vick, but to the helpless dogs he electrocuted, tortured and hung. This guy should serve some serious jail time and be banned from the NFL for good. But then again, this is just the opinion of a lowly blogger.
