LOCK of the Week: Two for the Show

So I nailed my last pick, and boy did I feel good about that one.  The Cowboys laid an ass-kicking on the Seahawks and anyone that bet some cash on that game and listened to me was sitting pretty after the first quarter. The win put me at 7-5 on the year, and I’m feeling hot.  So hot that I can’t wait ’till next week for another lock.  So one time only, I got a doozy, San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills -6.  The Bills are still in the playoff hunt, and while I hate to use cliches, it doesn’t get more “must win” than this one.  They got back on the right track last week by dropping 54 on the Chiefs in Arrowhead, and now that their office is clickng, should have no problem putting up at least 30 on the Niners.  As for Mike Singletary and his team, the talent just isn’t there. Neither is the heart. Take the Bills and enjoy this double “LOCK,” after all, it is the holiday of giving…

LOCK of the Week

Technically, 5-3 on the season isn’t bad. It just sucks when you start off 5-0 and have a 3-week slide.  But rest assure my gambling friends, things are about to change.  I’m not gonna try to outhink it, not going for a sexy pick either.  My pick this week comes from an oldie but a goodie. They started the season of with a couple of big injuries but have slowly gelled into contenders and are in a three way tie for first in their division.  Buffalo Bills -3 at the New England Patriots; that’s the game.  Take the Pats, take the points. I’m pretty sure New England’s not going to lose at home with the division on the line.  The second half of the season starts here.  They still have the best WR in the league and possibly the best home field advantage too. Hopefully the streak stops/starts here.

LOCK of the Week

Ok, so it happened…all you haters got what you wanted. After 5 glorious weeks, the Big Dog finally lost one. Stupid overrated Jets is all I can say. But watch me bounce back.  And boy do I have a doozy for you.  The Buffalo Bills -1 at the Miami Dolphins.  Sure this might look like a trap game, being favored by only 1 point, but the Bills are for real.  They have the second best record in the league.  They’re coming off a big win against the Chargers and while they might not whoop the Dolphins, they surely will cover. So don’t wait, do it, bet it. Let’s start another streak.

Buffalo Bills: J.P. Losman Wants Out

j.p. losman onthebuzzer.comBills BACKUP quarterback Jonathan Paul Losman wants to be traded from the Buffalo. Reports are that he is upset after losing his job to rookie Trent Edwards.  I wonder why he’s upset?  Is it because Buffalo is last in the NFL in yards? Is it because in the 8 games he played this year (was knocked out early in 2 games), Losman has thrown a total of 4 touchdowns and 6 picks? Losman’s agent said that the team quit on him.  When the going gets tough, blame your team.  I’m sure they’ll step up for him next year.  Looks like Losman has been talking to Donovan McNabb.  I’m sure Losman can be an asset for some other sorry team, like the Chiefs or maybe even the Dolphins. With that said, don’t let the door hit you on the way out buddy…

snow onthebuzzer.comWhat is that? Suns go on an 8-0 run? Pats are 8-0 after the first eight games of the season? Try 2 field goals and a safety and you have the final score of the Bills and Browns game in Cleveland. They played all game in the snow, a game where you couldn’t even see the lines on the field. It was ugly, true, but good teams find a way to get it done and frankly, a win is a win. The Browns are on their way to a playoff appearance while the Bills, on their way home. Buffalo needed this win to stay in the playoff race. Unfortunately for them, the weather was just too much for them. As for my fantasy football league, thanks for nothing Derek Anderson.

Donovan McNabb: He’s Baaack…

onthebuzzer.com donovan mcnabbHey guys, I’m ready to come back. That’s what Donovan McNabb essentially said.  His team on the verge of another losing season, is currently in the cellar of the NFC East.  And no thanks to McNabb, by the way. The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been over .500 the entire season.  McNabb  is ranked 14th in passingonthebuzzer.com aj feeley touchdowns, 26th completion percentage and 13th in quarterback rating.  For someone who has once been touted as a top 5 qb in the league, it might be time to move on. Time for McNabb to throw some other team under the bus. Blame another group of guys for his problems. McNabb at 31 years of age is no spring chicken. The Eagles have A.J. Feeley, who’s only 1 year younger then McNabb but does not come close to the injury problems that have plagued McNabb over the past few years. I’m no Eagle fan, but give Feeley the starting nod. You can’t do any worse.  Who knows, with the Giants, Cowboys, Saints and Bills, the Eagles can potentiall go 3-1 and build some momentum going into next year.  Trade McNabb for some draft picks or a marquee receiver and boom, you’re a threat in the NFC again.

Miamia Dolphins Looking to Remain Perfect

We just finished week 13 and the Miami Dolphins still haven’t won a game. What a freakin’ embarrassment!!! The only team on their schedule that the Dolphins had a chance to beat were the NY Jets, in Maimi and what do you know, the Jets kickedonthebuzzer.com dolphin fans their asses 40-13.  The Dolphins were actually up 13 to 10 before they allowed 30 unanswered points.  I’ve never seen a team this bad.  And I don’t want anyone to play the injury card, because that’s part of the game. Plus the Dolphins only lost 1 key player in Ronnie Brown, the injury to Trent Green wasn’t big, since Green sucked anyway.  Buffalo, Baltimore, New England and Cincy are the games left, I’m hoping that they can win one game for the sake of the players.  But at the same time, I’m hoping they lose the rest to stick it to those ’72 Dolphins.  I guess either way, the Dolphins are ending up with the #1 pick in the draft next year.  I wonder if they can draft and entire NCAA Football team.

Patriots Running Up the Score; What’cha Gonna Do About It?

onthebuzzer.com bill belichick4th and 1 on the Buffalo 3, Patriots up 35-7. What does Belichek do? They go for it and Brady throws his 5th touchdown pass of the game. Pouring it on, running up the score, call it what you want but the New england Patriots don’t care. They don’t care about their opponents, they don’t care about you, and they don’t care about rules and sporstmanship. I don’t mind it, you go out there and you punish the team you’re playing against until they give up. Sure it looks like the Bills have given up, but if they don’t wanna play, get off the field. This is supposed to be a professional football team and they look like a Div II-A team, if even that. I will say one thing, if the Pats were running up the score on me, I would definitely send in the goon squad for a cheap shot, send them a message. Everyone knows that when an NHL game is out of reach, the goons come in and fights break out. In MLB, someone might get thrown at. Old school NBA-a hard foul. Cheap shot, late hit, roughing the passer, whatever it takes because when the Pats come into town, they’re playing for keeps.

I Won’t Choke Like the Buffalo Bills

thurman thomas onthebuzzer.comice cube onthebuzzer.comIce Cube said it right in “Wicked.” Except he was referring to their 0-4 superbowl appearances.  Monday night’s game might have been worse. For the Bills on MNF, it was anything but. Up 24-16 in the 4th quarter, the Bills gave up a touchdown to the Cowboys with 24 seconds left, stopped them on the two-point conversion then allowed Dallas to recover an onside kick and score a game winning field goal with time running out. And you ask yourself why they have only 1 win? All this on the day when former RB Thurman Thomas was honored at half time. Show some team pride, win a game. Players in the league are supposed to be PROS. I know they have injuries, but that’s part of the game. They have top rookie in Lynch, a pretty decent receiving corp with Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish. Buffalo fans, look at it this way, at least they are in second place in their division, ahead of the NY Jets and the Miami Dolphins who have a combined 1 win. Looks like the Pats can clinch a playoff birth by this Sunday, “Cause they’re the ones with the fat mad skills.”

Cowboys Stay Undefeated

cowboys.jpgDespite 5 interceptions and one fumble, Tony Romo finds a way to rally his team from behind and beat the Bills on Monday Night. The Cowboys scored nine points in the final 20 seconds, including a 53-yard field goal by Nick Folk as time expired, giving Dallas an improbable 25-24 victory. This very well may be the year of the Cowboys. How can you commit 6 turnovers, two of which were returned for TDs, and have a kickoff returned for a TD and still win the game? That’s what good teams do. Dallas now 5-0, while the Bills are left scratching their heads, no doubt thinking they let this one get away…
