My Apologies to Raiders Running Back Justin Fargas

onthebuzzer.com justin fargasI doubted him, I hated on him, “he’s too small,” and then on October 29, I picked him up on my fantasy league.  The results: 384 rushing yds, 2 tds, 67 receiving yards in 4 games.  Not bad for a guy whose started off the season behind Lamont Jordan and in front of overrated Dominic Rhodes. Oakland Raider running back Justin Fargas isn’t a premier back in the league, but he is definitely getting the job. For a Raider team that hasn’t had much to celebrate in say 20 years or so, Fargas has given them something to look forward to. The Raiders went into Arrowhead on Sunday and beat the Chiefs 20-17, with the go ahead score coming on Fargas’ 14 yd touchdown run.  It’s no surprise to many that this guy is a former USC Trojan.  That’s probably where he’s learned the Xs and Os of the game.  Fight on Fargas, Fight on!!!

onthebuzzer.com sad eli manningI’m sitting watching the NY Giants host the Adrian Peterson-less Minnesota Vikings and Eli Manning has thrown 4 interceptions, 3 returned for touchdowns.  What the F#@!  Yes, this guy is my fantasy league quarterback, and yes he’s got 15 tds, but after today, he’ll have at least 15 interceptions.  I think this guy is a 2nd tier qb, right under his brother, Brady and Carson, but he has a lot to learn about poise and leadership.  I’m sick of his facial expressions when a WR doesn’t make a catch or runs the wrong route. Suck it up buddy, shit happens.  Make the best of it and for the love of god, try to keep your team in the game. By the way, garbage time touchdowns are good for me, bad for you…

M1ssour1 T1gers!

missouritigers1.jpgIn one of the most anticipated and entertaining games of the year, the Missouri Tigers beat the Kansas Jayhawks 36-28 in front 80,537. In the 116th meeting between these two teams, this was arguably the most important, and it drew the second largest crowd in Arrowhead stadium. Chase Daniel pole vaulted into the top 3 of this year’s Heisman race and dare we say… Missouri number 1? Sure looks like it. The Tigers took the lead early. They were faster, more athletic, and seemed better prepared as it took Kansas an entire half to realize what had hit them. By the time the offense woke up, it was too little too late. Mizzou had a lead they were not going to relinquish and the rest was history. Daniel was 40-49, for 361 yards and 3 TDs. Up next… Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship. What a game that should be as both teams looked very impressive this week. We don’t have a playoff system, but nobody can argue what a great time of year this is for College Football.

lsu1.jpgNote to the Tigers. Try to avoid overtime. The LSU Tigers lose their second game of the year, again in overtime, this time against an unranked opponent. Darren McFadden and the Razorbacks run all over LSU, making the Tigers look more like pussy cats. National Championship? Sorry LSU. Maybe you are not as good as you thought you were. Let’s face it. I gave you credit for winning, but I said sooner or later, these fourth downmcfadden1.jpg conversions and close games will bite you in your behind and that’s exactly what’s happened. They have barely won games that shouldn’t have been close and now lose to a 7-4 unranked Arkansas team. The Razorbacks win it in triple overtime as LSU fails to convert their two point conversion. McFadden rushes for 206 yards and 3 TD’s and throws for a TD! They face a Tennessee team in the conference championship game and a loss hear may be exactly what the doctor ordered……. for Michigan! Anyone looking for a “Carr” with “Les Miles?”

“O” Is Not For Offense

oregon.jpgAt least you have a good basketball team… The Oregon Ducks lay an egg, or should I say an “O”. The UCLA Bruins shatter the Ducks’ hopes of a Pac-10 Championship and there will be no smelling of the Roses this year. UCLA shuts out Oregon 16-0, as the Ducks could barely muster up any offense the entire game. We know that UCLA has a good defense and the Ducks are without their starting QB… But for Christs’ Sake, what was that?!? Three more QB’s, same result for Oregon. No offense… No offense… No offense… About the only thing that went right for the Ducks was that Dan Fouts (an Oregon alum) didn’t cry on national TV. Up next for UCLA, the Trojans of Southern Cal. Sorry Bruins, there will be no repeat of last year. Just be happy if you don’t get blown out this time.

Week 13 College Picks-Results

top25.jpg1- (2) Kansas vs (4) Missouri – Mizzou was no doubt the better team. Entertaining game throughout. Kansas’ defense and offense exposed in this one. 36-28 Missouri… got it wrong.
2- (11) USC at (7) Arizona Statepadlock3.jpg – Someone smells the roses, and it’s not ASU. A good old fashioned butt whoopin’ by USC. Just a reminder to everyone who ownes the Pac 10. My lock! 44-24 USC… nailed it!
3- Arkansas at (1) LSU – The Tigers keep on screwing me. Missed another LSU game and congrats to the Razorbacks. Adios National Championship. Adios Les Miles. 50-48 Arkansas… got it wrong.
4- (13) Texas at Texas A & M – Another game, another upset. Just when we think the better team will win, A & M shocks the world. 38-30 Texas A & M… got it wrong.
5- (19) Boise State at (14) Hawaii – Warriors almost sure to get a BCS bid. Maybe play USC in the Rose Bowl? Could happen if Ohio State goes to the Championship game. 39-27 Hawaii… nailed it!
6- (8) Virginia Tech at (16) Virginia – Should have gone with my instincts. Tech looked very good on the road in a rivalry game. 33-21 Virginia Tech… got it wrong.
(9) Oregon at UCLA – I would feel sorry for them, but they didn’t seem to feel sorry for USC when they beat them without their starting QB and 2 lineman. Better luck next year Oregon. 16-0 UCLA… nailed it!
8- (7) Georgia at Georgia Tech – Now can we give them respect? Solid performance on the road in a hostile environment. Kudos for a great year. 31-17 Georgia… nailed it!
9- Oklahoma State at (10) Oklahoma
– We knew the Sooners were better, but we didn’t know State would lay an egg! What was that? Nice fumble at the goal line. Oklahoma crushes State. 49-17 Oklahoma… got it wrong.
10-Miami at (14) Boston College – Almost got this one. BC pushes against a bad Miami team. 28-14 Boston College… pushed!

Recap: Very disappointed. A man of my caliber should not have weeks like this, but just goes to show you even I am not perfect. Once again got my lock though! 4-5-1
