Jeremy Lin… Just Jeremy Lin
Linning, Linderella, Linsanity, Lintendo, Lin Lin Lin… Let’s give the guy credit for what he’s done and not just having a catchy name. Jeremy Lin started for the NY Knicks when they were 8-15. Now, seven games later, Lin has pulled the Knicks back to .500 and back into the spotlight. That’s without Carmelo Anthony and mostly without Amare. The kid is averaging a double double in points and assists which is what you want from a point guard. I’m not crowning the Knicks the Eastern Conference champs but they are fun to watch. I think what intrigues me the most is that its proof that anyone with talent and heart can make the NBA. You don’t have to be a certain race, height or weight. All you need is to be able to dribble, put the rock in the hoop and something most athletes don’t have… you gotta want it. Good for Jeremy Lin, good for the NY Knicks, good for the game.
Nuggets Fall To Knicks… Not Ready Yet
This, folks, is why the Denver Nuggets will not win the NBA Championship this year. How do you lose to the NY Knicks when you’re the second best team in the Western Conference and arguably the main threat to dethrone the Lakers in the West? Do you not bring your “A” game? Were the Nuggets looking ahead to their next game against Boston (which it tomorrow btw)? I can’t even name 5 guys on the Knicks’ squad. Let me not crucify the Nuggets by themselves. This happens to many teams, including the Lakers and even the Cavs. But if you want to be a lock in for the NBA Finals, you have to bring that same intensity every single game. The Boston Celtics did it 2 years ago. The Lakers did it last year. There was no doubt that these teams were the best in the league the year they won. They all had that swagger. They had that “you can’t hold my jockstrap” attitude. The Nuggest have the talent, but they’re missing that swag. Don’t get that confused with being confident. I’ve never seen a group of guys that are cockier than the Nuggs. Even their poster child J.R. Smith thinks he could beat Michael Jordan at his prime. But if these fellas want to make it and win the finals, they have to have beaten teams before they even step on the court…mentally. And that doesn’t mean being mental…
NYC Accepting Applications for Biggest MUFF
Well folks, it’s come down to just two, Stephon Marbury and Plaxico Burress. Who wants it more? Who’s gonna be more of a distraction
to his team? Who can be more selfish? It seems like it was just last year when the NY cleansed itself of the last remaining douchebags in its sports team, in Isaiah Thomas and Jeremy Shockey. But what a pleasant surprise to the rest of the nation when Starbury and Plax felt it necessary to step up and carry the torch of their forefathers. With Plaxico out for the rest of the year, it’s just a matter of time before Starbury’s career in NY is over. Kudos to the NY Giants’ organization for placing him on the non-injured reserve list for the rest of the season, whatever their reason might be. I would love to see the G-men go all the way this year, AGAIN, without Burress. His overpaid, overrated-ass needs a big slice of humble pie. Why does he have a gun on him anyway? Does this guy think he’s a thug? Am I the only one that finds it funny that he shot himself? Maybe he should go talk to Mike Vick about how easy it is to throw
away your career. As for Stephon, in his defense, he just wants what he’s owed. The Knicks should’ve never taken on that ginormous contract of his. And frankly, now they have to pay the price. If they’re smart, they’ll put their pride aside and buy this guy out and chalk it up to another “Knick-up.” Either that, or they should have him ride the pine and rot away for the rest of the season. I can’t imagine any team in the league that would want someone like this on there roster. Plus, his shoes are the nastiest shoes I’ve ever seen. I’d rather wear pro-wings from payless shoes. Oh well, keep it up might Plax and Steph, because yes, you both are above the law and above us all. After all, without you, we’d have nothing to laugh write about.
Stephon Marbury: The Real Cancer
On Tuesday, Stephon Marbury, or as his fan likes to call him, Starbury, left practice in Phoenix and went back to NY. Speculation of this guy unhappy with the team? Is it that time of the year again? I hate to say it but the NY Knicks need to move this guy while he still has some trade value. Marbury’s averaging 15 ppgs and almost assists. There’s gotta be a team in need of a point guard out there (Miami perhaps?). Marbury’s troubles are nothing new. He couldn’t play with Garnett in Minnesota, was shipped to Phoenix where he almost found a home but his shoot first mentality wasn’t what the Suns were looking for, and now the Knicks. He’s no longer that 20+ ppg man, nor 9+assists. His numbers are still respectable for a B level point guard, but it’s the character issues continue to pop up in the papers. My advice to Zeke: help your team, get rid of this guy while you still can, build around Randolph and who knows, you might even sneak into the playoffs one day.
What a Zachoff!!!
Have you seen Lamarcus Aldridge play? The starting PF for the Portland Trail Blazers is a BEAST. Most people are saying “what a horrible mover, Zack Randolph for Channing Frye?!!?” Well, Portland killed 2 or actually many birds with one stone. They got rid of Randoph, who slowed down the game with his back to the basket style of play. I mean COME ON, I HATED watching them play this slow ball crap where Randolph would get his 20-10, but how many wins did that produce?? Channing Frye is a GREAT pick up for the Blazers in my opinion. Remember Isaiah “I am definitely not a role model” Thomas deemed hi UNTOUCHABLE his rookie season. He can definitely bother many opponents on both the offensive and defensive ends. This move also played a part in signing James Jones (former Phoenix Sux) and Rudy Fernandez who will join the Blazers next year. Fernandez is supposedly the next Ginobli (check him out, the guy can play).
FINALLY, the Blazers will be a RUNNING team. Check out their preseason stats, as they’re scoring over 100 pts a game! How many are the Knicks scoring with Randolph? I don’t care to look. Keep you eye out for Aldridge, he will surprise many of you and on a fantasy bball note, you better PICK HI UP!!! I was about to close this article with a Greg Who? BUt dammit…that just depresses me…next year folks, watch out for the Blazers. This year, well…realistically another trip to teh lottery but it will be fun watching them play a similar style the Suns play while building chemistry. As for the Knicks…sorry but prepare for a slower game…MUCH s-l-o-w-e-r.

Don’t Call it a Comeback…
Allan Houston expected to announce his comeback with the
NY Knicks. He’s begun his training with Nate Robertson (shown in photograph). Hmmmm, just when you thought the Knicks were taking a step forward, they do something silly like this. Rumors have it that the Knicks are looking to get old. Next up in their recruiting process, the “Iceman” George Gervin and the “Big Red” Bill Walton. Sure Houston’s a good clubhouse guy but clubhouse guys don’t get you championships, let alone into the playoffs. Houston hasn’t played in the league for years, after his career ended from an injury. Come the middle of the season, Houston will surely run out of gas, then people will be chanting “Houston, we’ve go problems.” You’re telling me that there is no one else out there that can fill his shoes? Surely Isaiah Thomas wasn’t informed about this move, as he would never make a boneheaded decision, would he?
