Say It Ain’t So Pete
So Pete Carroll is interested in the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach job, rumors have it. Why, oh why? Why would Pete leave a cush job at USC, possibly the best in the country, for possibly the worst job (or close to it next to the Dolphins) in the NFL? People say its because he gets FULL control of football operations including player personell and what not. I say it’s because he’s got something to prove. Pete left the NFL as, dare I say, a failure. He came to the NCAA, tore it up (in a good way) and has nothing left to prove. He probably wants to go back to the Pros win the big one. I’m not sure how he’ll fare in the pros again but I am sure that this is a good thing for the Falcons. Instant recognition. As for the USC Trojans, it’s a very, very bad thing. How are they gonna find a coach, a legend, to replace this guy. This is gonna set the USC football program back big time. Good college coaches are hard to find. Pete Carroll-type coaches are even harder. SC better dig into that alumni list and shell out some “don’t even think about leaving” cash to keep Carroll in LA. For you lay-persons, we call that, butt loads of money.
