Adrian Peterson: Start ‘em or Sit ‘em
Rumor has it that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was on the field on Wednesday, doing some light individual drills. I for one am surprised that he is back and couldn’t be happier for the rookie sensation. However, I must say that I am torn as to whether or not he should return at all this season. For starters, the Vikings offensive line
proved last week that they can open holes for anyone, with Chester Taylor rushing for 3 tds and over 150 yards. With the Vikings all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, what realistic reason is there for this kid to come back and play this year? He is the franchise and “rushing” his recovery might harm this team in the long run. On the other hand, if he is ready to go, do you sit him down and send a message to the rest of the team that “you guys aren’t as important?” That can cause rifts and jealousy and envy (in a bad way) in the locker room that can trickle into next year. Oh well, it’s a good thing I’m not a general manager or a head coach (like it’s my choice not to be one). I’m sure the Vike’s will make the correct decision, as they’ve done so up to this point anyway. P.S. Yo Vikes, you guys might wanna think about tanking some games and draft a top quarterback or wide receiver. The pieces to the puzzle are almost all there, almost…
