The TRUTH about Sports

BEWARE OF THE KING

King James and his faithful followers have become an unstoppable force in the NBA. No Delonte West, no Mo Williams, no problem.  These Cavs are winning every time I look at the box scores.  My question to you, fellow audience, is the hell is going to stop Lebron James?  It’s not going to be Ron Artest… It’s not going to be Paul Pierce and I’m pretty sure it’s not gong to be Anyone from the Nuggets. The worst part, what the hell is gonna happen next year? Or the year after? The King is averaging ROYAL numbers, 30 ppg, 7 rpg, 8 apg. The funny thing is that he has no true supporting cast. No Pippen to his Jordan, no Gasol to his Kobe, no Abdul-Jabbar to his Magic (I could go on forever). Don’t give me an old Shaq or a broken down Ilgauskas. No one on the Cavs would start on 80% of teams in the league. I’m picking the Cavs to win the NBA Championship this year AS LONG AS Lebron does not get injured.  You can replace anyone else on his team with a chair and the King will prevail.  It’s just too bad that Shaq is gonna pick up another ring… dare I say… from the King.

Ron Artest Is Raw

There is no doubt in my mind that Ron Artest is crazy.  Not bad crazy, but good crazy.  Let me start off by saying that I’m a HUGE fan.  I was and still am very content with the signing of Artest to the Lakers. Now I know he still looks uncomfortable out there playing with the Lakers.  It seems that the guys just hasn’t found his role.  He’ll have one huge game then disappear the next.  On defense, it looks as if he’s lost at times.  He’s not the same lock down defensive player he used to be.  Why add him to the Lakers’ roster, you ask? It was a mistake, you say? Bring back Ariza? Let me tell you what he brings to the table: it’s something called grit, toughness, street cred, something the Lakers seem to have lost this year.  Take for example today’s loss against Denver.  Someone tell Joey Graham of the Nuggets that he doesn’t want to get in the face of Ron Ron.  Artest has instilled so much fear in the league that no one from the Nuggets jumped in to help out Graham or push Artest away when the two got in each other’s faces.  No one even retaliated when Artest facewashed Graham. And don’t forget, these are the same thuggets with Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith, and the Birdman.  Remember a week ago when the Lakers played the Boston Celtics and Artest got into it with Paul Pierce before the tip-off.  Folks, it’s called a message.  It’s being sent to the rest of the league.  F#@! with the Lakers, F#@! with Artest. Bad loss for the Lakers against Denver tonight, especially at home, especially without Carmelo.  I think the Lakers need to just get Kobe healthy and get Ron some more shots and they’ll be exactly where they want to be for the playoffs.  Forget about homecourt, let’s just fast-forward to the Western Conference Finals against the Nuggets, beat them in 5, then bring on the King.

Peyton Manning: Best Quarterback EVER!

Is there any doubt?  Whatever happens this weekend, it doesn’t matter.  He’s already won a ring.  Noone ever doubted Dan Marino’s skill as a quarterback and he never won the big one. If I’m starting a franchsie, this is the guy that’s going #1.  He’s never injured ala every other quartback in the league.  He never makes a bonehead play that costs his team the game (see Brett Favre). He’s not into individual accomplishments. The biggest reason why he’s so good… he’s a student and fan of the game.  Plus, he’s funny as heck in his commercials. Make no doubt that having two weeks before the Superbowl, Peyton Manning will be the hardest working player and coach in the Colts locker room. I would love to see this guy be a head coach one day in the future.  But until then, let’s enjoy history in the making because all of you who are reading this article and love the NFL can tell their kids and grandkids one day that they were alive when the greatest quarterback ever played the game.

BYE BYE BOSTON

As if losing to the Los Angeles Lakers after blowing a double digit lead in the fourth quarter wasn’t bad enough.  Rumor has it that Paul Pierce has a broken foot and might miss the rest of the season.  I gotta be honest with you, even after the Lakers’ victory on Sunday, I still thought that the Celts were the best team in the league.  But an injury like this to Pierce opens the door wide open to the Cleveland Cavaliers, by default, the new best team in the East.  Pierce is the guy on the Celts that hits the clutch shots.  He’s also that big guard that causes matchup problms for opposing teams.  With no Pierce, the Celtics can kiss their championship dreams goodbye.  There’s no way, that’s NO-WAY, this teams win a title this year without Paulie.  Add in the age of their big three, and Boston might have to start rebuilding again, exept this time around their new star, Rajon Rondo.

RECOGNIZE Chris Paul

Chris PaulI believe in Chris Paul.  Apparently, Rajon Rondo doesn’t. After the Celtics beat the Hornets by 10 in Boston on Sunday, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo felt he needed to let Paul know what up. Words were exchanged but nothing ensued.  Let me just say this: Rajon Rondo can’t hold Chris Paul’s jockstrap (if that make sense).  What I’m trying to say is Rondo wishes he can become as good as Paul.  I turned into a huge Rondo believer after he tore it up in the playoffs last year.  But disrespect is not cool.  Rondo needs to realize the truth.  He has 3 hall of famers on his team in Garnett, Pierce and Allen.  Not only that, but throw in a Rasheed Wallace and they’ve already become the favorite to win the East.  Unfortunatley Paul’s supporting cast isn’t as good, Emeka and David West? Paul is averaging 26 pts and 7 assists, Rondo 6.5 and 12.  In 5 years, Paul is averaging 20 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and 2/5 assists.  Rondo on the other hand, in 4 years, 10 points, 6 assists, under 2 steals and 4.4 rebounds.  I know Rondo is on his way to bigger and better things.  Hell, he just signed a 5 year $55 million extension with the Celtics. Although, he needs to show respect to the players that have earned theirs, and Chris Paul is that.  Heck, I don’t even think Rondo has a nickname yet.  CP3 or Chef Paul (I like the latter), might be the coolest in the league.  Back off Rondo, you don’t want to wake up a sleeping little giant. That’s the best point guard in the league…

Clock Strikes Twelve for USC Trojans

USC TrojansKeep moving moves, nothing to see here. Nothing special about this team other than an inexperienced TRUE freshman quarterback, an overrated defense, and throw in a lovable players coach.  I’m not dogging on USC’s history, but I’m gonna hammer the present.  The Trojans got their asses kicked by the Oregon Ducks.  The same Ducks that lost their starting running back to suspension after the first game.  What the hell is going on here?  Many people said that the Trojans weren’t prepared, they didn’t come to play.  The truth of the matter is that this team isn’t the team they used to be.  Matt Barkley hasn’t arrived yet.  He hasn’t had a jaw dropping game this season. He missed receiver after receiver.  The defense has allowed at leat 27 points in each of the last 3 games.  Frankly, the playmakers aren’t there YET, on both offense and defense.  Sure they have a bunch of blue-chip talent on the field but these guys aren’t gelling.  Watching the Ducks yesterday, they moved the ball anywhere they wanted.  It’s gonna be at least another year before Barkley plays 1/2 as good as people have been hyping him up.  As for the rest of the Trojans, sad. Wasted loss in the beginning of the year at Washington.  I knew this was gonna be a tough game for SC.  They’ve had problems winning in Oregon, whether it be the Ducks or the Beavers, for the past 3 years. Anyhow, looks like the “whogiveacrap” bowl for the USC Trojans this year, whoopdittedoo!

LAKERS GET RUN BY THE MAVERICKS

kobe bryantAnd that’s at Staples by the way.  We all forgot about the woes of the Lakers. After finishing off the season last year with a Championship, no one particularly recalled how they got there.  Remember the losses to Indiana, Sacramento, Miami, Charlotte, Pihlly, Charlotte AGAIN? Remember how many times the Lakers lost a game that they were supposed to dominate?  Well, fast-forward to tonight against the Dallas Mavericks, a team that hasn’t beaten the Lakers in the last 6 visits. Can’t say the Lakers were looking to the next game, because that woud be against the Hawks who are supposed to be heavy underdogs. My take on this loss, it was a clinic on why basketball is a team game (see Mavericks) vs. a street game (see Lakers).  The Lakers played the entire game like they were at Rucker Park, all one-on-one.  Kobe forcing shots from the beginning, going 6-19.  Sure he scored 20 points but he missed more than %66 of his shots, rarely got his teammates involved. When he did, they couldn’t capitalize.  Ron Artest clearly isn’t comfortable YET with his new team as he shot 1-6 and was in foul trouble most of the game.  He even picked up a technical to spice things up.  Finally, the Lakers’ bench.  What to say.  Jordan Farma dribbling the ball of his leg, Jordan Farmar throwing the ball away in a key stretch in the 4th quarter. Sasha taking an off-balance 3-pointer (missing of course). I don’t ever want to see Mbenga or Luke Walton on the court…EVER.  These guys don’t belong in the NBA. I’m not saying it’s time to panic but they’re gonna need to nip this in the bud.  As for all you psychos out there that think that they’re gonna beat the Bulls all-time record, stop.  It ain’t happening.

LAKERS RING IN NEW SEASON

Kobe BryantOpening night of the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers went right back to work, disposing of the Los Angeles Clippers 99-92.  This game wasn’t as close as the score shows, as the Lakers were up double digits in the first quarter.  The Clippers made a few runs througout the game, cutting the lead to even 1 point but you can tell that they were never gonna pull it out. It was nice to see everyone get their championship rings prior to the game.  Hope they can get one for new Laker Ron Artest this year. As for the Clippers, sad to see Blake Griffin starting his career on the injured list, let alone as a Clipper.  Hope he doesnt turn into a Danny Manning/Shaun Livingston/bust. I’m looking at this Clippers team and other than Eric Gordon (and Griffin), there’s no one on this team that plays with fire, the love.  We all know the history of Baron Davis, Ricky Davis, and Marcus Camby, a collection of selfish athletes.  Then again, I guess Mr. Donald Sterling doesn’t really give two shits about this team, considering they’ve had only 2 winning seasons in over 20 years. Back to the Lakers, it’s gonna be a fun year, especially when Pau Gasol returns from the sore hammy. I don’t know what sucks more, the Lakers’ bench or Baron Davis?

Cardinals Order Big Mac… with Juice?

mark mcgwireBrace yourselves folks, Mark McGwire is back in baseball.  After being caught on the juice and being shunned from society, ex-slugger Mark McGwire returns, not as a player but a hitting coach.  I wonder what his first tip is gonna be? I mean, this guy had been juicing ever since I can remember. Remember how buff he was as a part of the infamous bash brothers? Or that year when when he went head to head with Sammy Sosa for the home run record? I’ve been thinking this for a while and am going to come out and say, “Did you ever wonder if Albert Pujols was juicing?”  Now before I get crucified, think about it, can someone actually be that good of a hitter?  We all thought Alex Rodriguez was amazing and we all saw what happened. Look at Manny Ramirez, same shit, different toilet.  Maybe the Cards brought in McGwire to serve as an escape goat when the news breaks? Maybe I’m just a cynic who’s been burned by these players one too many times. I’ll say this, it gives McGwire that “second chance” we all deserve. I wonder how many steroid questions he’s gonna have to answer next year. He can start by answering this one “WHY?”
